The Everton/Goodison Footprint

I didn't know Walton Motors' site was council owned.

Stanley Park - Now, I'm from L4, and really don't like the idea of us (or Liverpool, or anyone for that matter) building on the local parks, which includes the plans for WHP. However, I could stomach us building mostly on the Stanley Park car park and old Vernon Sangster section - this is mostly not green space, and also the section that Liverpool were slated in for 10 years ago - we wanted it in 1990, but they were "given" it in 2000-sh, so why can't we have it?

It's about as close to Goodison as we will get, and was the site of our first official match if what I've read is correct. Maybe even Arkles Lane could be narrowed by the eastbound carriageway moving into the central reservation, to create more space? Also, no-one would be made to move house with that plan.
The problem we had over SP as far as i can remember is we wanted to build a car park there, but that end of the park contains all the band stands bridges lake etc, from what i can recall thats why we were refused

I've been looking on Google Maps on Satellite view and if you right click you can drop some markers for distances and so measure the size of the land that we currently have which is around 150 x 200m if trying to maintain a rectangular shape. The actual is about 230x150x200x150 with Goodison rd the longest side.
I did this so as to then compare the footprint of other stadiums that are in existence, mainly because my arl fella went to The Bernabeu a few years ago & said that from the outside it doesnt seem that big and when approaching you dont really realise its there until its right in front of you.
So, I did similar footprint measures with a few stadiums as a comparison, it does seem that we have a bit of a problem with whats available width wise but have whats seeming to be a 'standard' length of approx 200m. Goodison footprint as approx 177 x 116 using a rectangle but 150 at widest point of Bullens to Main Stand.

here are some results....

Bernabeu 211 x 200, San Siro almost the same

Juventus 170 x 200

Dortmund 187 x 200

Mestalla 192 x 150

any other suggestions to measure whilst I'm at it ?
Knock it down and build a new stadium!

Ground share with Liverpool for a couple of years?

Lang Park aka Suncorp Stadium Brisbane 55K. I've been a few times in various specs no pillars. horrible paint job but we could do worse than that sort of thing.

188 x 247 m

Atletico too.

If we built on the current concrete area/Vernon Sangster site, I don't think we'd need to go that far IF we put a multi storey car park on the site of the old Stanley Park/Anfield Comp. school on the opposing corner. It's already levelled.

Oh yeah, I think that could be done as that end of the park is barren,I passed there at the weekend and there is some sort of work going on by the car park though I'm not sure what it is,I was saying about the lakes etc because a lot of people think it was a case of the council favouring one club over the other, though I personally don't think any park land should be used

From various sources the best use of the plot would involve the following:

  • Lowering the pitch by 5 m
  • Moving the pitch several metres towards Stanley Park allowing for an enlarged 2 tier Gwladys Street with steeper seating.
  • The lower pitch would also allow a redesigned Bullens Road with a middle executive level, increased capacity and steeper seating
  • A new 3 tier main stand with the middle section exclusively executive seating.
  • A two tier Park End.
  • Cantilever roofs for each stand.
Such a redevelopment though is very expensive, arguably more expensive than a new build.

Worth it though. I can be available to start whenever, boss.

If you went on the assumption that the Council would give us the school and walton motors site, would it not be worth attempting to buy up the whole of Diana st and Muriel st (obviously in a non kopite way) and turn the stadium 180 deg ?

But how much would this cost? Surely wouldn't need to buy all the houses though, you could accomplish a lot with half or maybe fewer.

Once again, the Collins playing fields on Commercial/Lambeth/Stanley Roads is the ONLY site we should be considering if we're to move from GP.

I simply cannot emphasise enough just how ideal that site is....To the exclusion of everywhere else - apart from Goodison. Shove WHP, or stonebridge lane or wherever...

From this link you can see the footprint of it in comparison to Goodison, it's proximity to the nearest railway stations, the city centre, and the waterfront.

That's a great location. Has it ever been seriously put forward as an option?
