The food and drink service inside Goodison

I was thinking the exact same thing. Their most in demand product is the same one that takes the most to prepare so you should have someone dedicated to ensuring there's a ready supply of it.

No though. That's too common sense, in a place where there's no common sense.
It'd be a bit more difficult at Goodison, certainly in the Bullens cos they're tight on space but in some of the away grounds I've been to it seems a no brainer.
Wembley was a 'kin joke. They ran out of burger buns, how d'you run out of them? You can stack 'em 10 ft high ffs. Loads of bars, beer and food on each, why not have them separate? Most people just want a bevvy, faster turnover and they're not stood behind people fannyin' about over what pizza to have or having a crisis over how to eat a burger without a bun.

HE'S HANDING US OUR CHANGE:

Sorry mate, can you swap that for us?

Why?

I asked for a MARS BAR?

And I gave you one.

No...that's a TWIX mate (shows TWIX....that says TWIX on it as proof of what it is....which IS a TWIX)

I'm sure I gave you a MARS

Hmmm, no mate...me boy doesn't like them y'see.

*HE ROLLS EYES

OK, gis it then...

*I Slide TWIX back to counter kid.

*Kid turns, chats, fumbles, slides replacement back....it is another TWIX, he is not looking what he's doing as he's listening to a story about how 'hot' Mary was, so much so, she 'had to go and take her jumper off'

Mate......

Yeah?

Mate, can you swap this one as well...

Eh? Why?

*holds up TWIX

HARD WORK THAT WAS.

Firstly I acknowledge it has its challenges as its high volume custom to service in a very limited time. I also acknowledge that it's minimum wage and they struggle for staffing. Further more yesterday was the first game of the season so likely to be a lot of new staff starting for the first time.

However it's continually crap service at these all around the ground. Even if you go down early you struggle to get served and have time to eat and drink before the second half starts due to the long waiting time and general inefficiency of the staff there and their systems. Which is sound as you're not expecting five star but you're paying premium prices so it could be a lot better.

On top of this they run out of stuff that they advertise too easily, so that's poor stock control. I think it's out sourced this isn't it? They need to put pressure on who is operating it to improve it.

The new bogs are ace though.

Not going off on an 'Everything is ace in Oz' way, but it seems to me that the outsourcing was the worst thing ever.
Grandson lives in Melbourne and is Aussie Rules mad (brainwashed by sky blanket coverage publicity) so I took us off to 'The 'Gabba' in Brisbane.
Now the 'Gabba is a new ground, 10-15yrs old, so space isn't an Issue in the concourse and there's more outlets than you can shake a stick at, if there's 8 in the queue you're unlucky.
They never seem to run out of stuff and at the prices they charge (AU$ 7.70 - 3 quid per schooner[smallish pint] )they must make a fortune... and stay open until the final whistle.

The question will be answered / fixed when we move - IF the proper homework is done and a proper job is made of it. It should make money and feed the punters.

ps The bag security is ludicrous, profit driven, not bomb safety driven. No commercial drinks, no alcohol, you can't even bring in a bottle of water ( excuse - it could be vodka )...I was tempted to empty it over the 'jobsworth's' head, but settled for tipping it out on/ near her feet.

Roll on The Mosh's Dock Side Shangri-la

Problem at virtually every ground I've been to tbh, including Wembley.
I've worked a lot of bars over the years, it baffles me that they don't line up stacks of 3/4 filled pints before the main rush then top them up, just have some staff dedicated to doing that, some dedicated to finishing and serving. You know roughly how many you'll be knockin out and over what time. Basic bar management.

They used to do this when they had no draught beer on tap and were serving chang out of cans, they'd empty one can into a plastic pint and then open the next and top it up when you ordered your beer. Problem was they'd do it about 15 minutes into the game so it would be standing next to the pie oven going flat and warm for at least another 15 minutes before it could be served. Warm flat Chang is not a nice experience to have, they also tried it when the draught came in but everyone kept refusing to take it and demanded a freshly pulled beer so it got swerved.

Also, is so difficult to serve pies that have an edible temperature inside?

If not please reveal as lava pies.

Seriously if you're gonna charge premium prices then your product and service need to be aligned accodingly. Ripping off people who've already paid a high price for entrance to the venue.

Hope is new regime bins all these lizards off.

Never understood why they don't pull off 500 pints at each pump during last 15 mins of 1st half so they're all good to go with contactless card payment. Really is easy.

Try having lunch before you go the match.
