See this is what I don't understand about vegans/vegetarians.
If you have taken the decision not to eat meat that's fair enough (can't understand that either BTW)
but why the obsession with disguising food to look like meat?
This is a genuine question for you veggies BTW
I wouldnt like to guess

Not a veggie but I do replace a lot of meat with tofu. You guys probably have better quality and standards, but here in the U.S. they sneak so much crap into meat. There is way more sodium than there should be and whatever the hell pink slime is, they add that too. If you want any meat free of additives it will cost you an arm and a leg. Tofu is $2.00 and absorbs flavor as well.

What do you mean disguise?

It ain't wearing a wig and a false nose is it.

It's sausage shape cause that's a useful shape for food to come in. Same with burgers.

Or should they be made in the shape of a lettuce?

Wow !
A bit on the defensive there aren't you mate?
Of course it isn't wearing a wig and false nose. It wouldn't look like a sausage then would it?

Sure it's a convenient shape, it's a roll, a tofu roll.
It's clearly designed to resemble a sausage in shape, colour and texture (and even branded as 'sausage')

If vegans/vegetarians don't want meat that's fair enough. What I am asking is why not just call these what they are "tofu rolls"
I've even seen vegetarian 'turkey', vegetarian 'chicken dippers' etc

Genuine question. The ONLY reason that I can see for this is that SOME vegetarians obviously miss meat and try to 'fool' themselves.

Why on earth does it possibly matter though?

It's a sausage. It's a tofu/quorn/vegeatble protein/whatever sausage. It's not a beef sausage, it's not a pork sausage, it's a vegetarian alternative sausage.

I'm sure you'll tell me that a proper sausage has to have meat in it. But it's just a name so it doesn't really matter does it.

It's a meat free version of something, not something totally different all together.

Probably most vegeatrians miss meat, why wouldn't they? It tastes nice, it smells nice, it's easy and effective to cook and eat, why wouldn't they want an alternative to that in every way bar being from an animal?

It's a bit like Lesbians using Dildos on each other.................... Surely they made their choice in the first place !!!!!!!!!

And the 'vegetarian' chicken, ham, bacon etc ? Are you really saying they are "not something totally different altogether"?

I seem to have struck a raw nerve with you here mate, so probably best if I go back to me pork chop and you take a chill pill and gnaw on a carrot.

Tofu is an abomination. When me bird was vegan she wouldn't even touch it, it's got the texture of one of them bars of nougat in the pink wrapper, deviants.

Lets be honest . Pigs are boss .so versatile

Pork chops
Pork loin
Pulled porky
Bacon
Gammon
Smoky bacon
Lots of different sausages
Black pudding
Porky scratchings.
Pick pies
Fat birds in the grafton

I'd be a rubbish Muslim or Jewish person.

Here's to the pig . We salute you :pint2:then stick you on a butty and scran you .

We used to have a Pork Butchers shop on County Rd...nothing wasted on a pig but the grunt. all the above plus pies, brawn, haslet, trotters, cheeks, brains, kidney, liver. etc. etc.

Shredded hash browns?!??!??

I am intrigued.
How else do you do hash browns, but shredded? Any potato cut larger is just fried potatoes not hash browns.
Sigh. What RAFUH said. Sometimes I wonder about... Well, I just wonder.

The shroom was one of the parts I liked best about the full English, thanks @tommye . Forza Fungi!

That and your boss bangers - those breakfast sausages are the real deal, I must admit.

Three egg and hash browns at my local. It's even better than it looks.

They want to form them into patties like the ones you get at McDonalds.
