In 1988 - Seoul - 5 of the top 8 countries in the medal table were from the old Soviet Bloc. When you get to Sydney in 2000 only Russia appears in the top 10. A lot of the countries that have fallen away are also the ones where suspicions of wide-spread drug taking were most widely held.

I would prefer for football's funding from Sport England to go on Basketball though. Football can support itself easily.

Was only watching a programme last night on the East German programme. Horrific what these girls were put through, many still suffering to this day.
