....interestingly, BBC say 16 of 19 golds have been successfully defended by the same athlete. I think the other 3 are still to be undertaken (Nicola Adams in the ladies boxing, the kick boxing girl and Mo Farah).

I have no idea how that could be accurately measured. But apparently the Velodrome in London is booked up weeks in advance. Same with the swimming pool.

A small gym near me has dozens and dozens of young kids in it every time I deliver to it. (Yeah, school holidays I know), but the place has produced Olympic gymnasts, and Commonwealth gold medalists. Just an industrial unit on a non descript trading estate.

The improvement since the Atlanta debacle is astonishing.

My arl fella has had a go on the velodrome, said its a superb experience.

I guess the fact another Prem club has been virtually gifted a new boss stadium out of the funding grates somewhat still though for the likes of us.

I think the elite we have NEED to be successful and all over press, social bloody media etc in this day in age for kids to get into sport and that sucess will be the legacy going forward ?

Well I was fully expecting 2012 to be a high water mark in terms of medals. Home advantage and all that.

The thing is, for each sporting body to get funding now, they have to show a realistic 8 year programme of delivery. So there are very young kids, in the system already, at gyms, schools, velodromes etc etc, now. All over the UK.

It isnt the "Stars" defending their title that is seriously impressive, its the wave of folk across the board delivering what they have been funded to do so.

And apparently, the number of GB 4th/5th place finishes is by a mile, the highest of most country's.

Its ace.
