The GOT Book Club

Up until the Battle of Blackwater the series stayed remarkably true to the books. Then the cracks stated ti appear. Anyway dont want to spoil your reading mate. I'm sure you'll enjoy the books just as much as the series., if not more.

To be honest, apart from the characters names, I can't remember that much detail about the TV series, I never massively got into it until about season 3 and that seems ages ago. I never do remember plots of tv shows that well.

I don't mind Cussler, a bit of historical fiction is a genre I've recently started getting into.
ya now that is a genre i would never have thought i would be interested in but i have read conn igguldens genghis khan series lately and i thought they were some of the best books i have read.he does a series on julius caesar as well i have bought the first book in that series so looking forward to it when i get a chance.so many books and only so many hours in a day unfortunately.

i was after watching the series for awhile before i started on the books so it made it that bit easier.when you would read a characters name i would automatically vision said actor/actress.although it did get a bit confusing at times when things were different in the books and series.
I dont have sky atlantic so didnt have that privilage. Have the full series in DVD now. Enjoy that immensely too.

I have read the Khan books, enjoyed them, from his early childhood to his domination good read.

Can't recommend Iggulden enough. His Caesar series is very good too and so is his latest one regarding The War of The Roses explaining how the Tudors took the throne.

Finished all of The Expanse books by James S.A. Corey, except for the latest one as I have stuck it on my Christmas list.

In the meantime I have decided to read all of C.S. Forester's Horatio Hornblower series. My dad got me into this series as a kid when the TV-Films started coming out. I thought the TV show would cover a few books but it looks like most of the early episodes all take place in the first book which means there is lot more for me to discover in the book series.

I proper love the old Naval Empire period of British History.

In the build up to the new Star Wars film I read it's prequel (yes the book is actually a prequel to a prequel!) It's called Catalyst: a Rogue One novel. It's written by James Luceno who has written loads of Star Wars novels in the past and this is a good one. Despite the the fact that it's quite obvious what's going to happen it's still a highly enjoyable read.

I enjoy Raymond E Feist, David Eddings, Terry Brooks, Robin Hobb off the top of my head, I strangely don't enjoy Pratchett.

It was Magician by Feist that got me into the fantasy genre when I was a kid, superb series. Faery Tale by Feist also as a one off book but He has done some fantastic sagas.

Brooks did the Sword of Shannara series which is excellent.
Magician is a great book
