The GOT Book Club

No I'll be honest stumbled across him on Kindle prime. Fancied something different from Bernard cornwall
get on them bud.you won't be disappointed.absolute quality.
i haven't gotten round to reading the war of the roses books yet but looking forward to them at some stage down the line.

Just finished this, it came highly recommended and although the first half was ok it sort of ran out of steam around the middle and seemed that some scenarios were included just to increase the page count.

Pretty sure some artistic licence was used to make it more gripping in places, still it's an interesting tale and if you can get it cheap its worth a browse. Doubt I will give it a 2nd reading though.

And also this @COYBL25 some more southern crime/noir, which I believe you like; I had recommended Desperation Road (Michael Farris Smith), Chief (Stuart Woods), and The Heavenly Table (Donald Ray Pollock) here on this forum:

On my list.

All your previous recommendations have been excellent and I’ve been looking for some more American Noir to read for a while now;)

Currently on trinity by Conn Igullden

All about war of the roses.. Quality historical references
I just picked up the first war of the roses. Really into historical fiction. Love Bernard Cornwell - read all 11 (or 12?) Last Kingdom books and the Grail series books. Robert Harris is great as well.

For anyone into thrillers, can't recommend Don Winslow highly enough.

Having read Bravo Two Zero and The One That Got Away when they first came out, I noticed this a few weeks ago and have just finished it. You really need to read the other two I mentioned if you are going to read this, as it tells a completely different tale to the other two books (which also disagree with each other). Which of the three books is the most accurate is up for debate I guess.

Just completed Steel World, would recommend it if you enjoyed reading Old Mans War (it's sort of a Young Mans War). There are quite a few books in this series so have started book #2 and will see if that keeps my attention.

The Winter Road by Adrian Selby.
Never read any Joe Abercrombie, but looks like it might be similar to his work, or the Black Company. No magic (if you discount the effects of plant-based drugs) but plenty of good world-building and gritty life. Maybe Game of Thrones without the dragons?
I would hesitate to actually call it fantasy, since it could apply to any edge of civilisation society where you are just left to rely on your clan/family/comrades...
