The GOT Book Club

Does anyone on here use e-readers?

Is there any good ones that won't see me giving all my money to Bezos and instead another book store/ library?

(Kick me out if this is not the thread for this question. Ta!)

Bought two paperbacks of Ray Bradbury short stories. Both published years' ago, yellowing pages, close type and that musty smell you get with old books. Fifteen stories in each book, 70 pence, a bargain.

There are plenty of Android e-readers out there, although don't know how good any of them. I actually have a Fire HD 7, and am borrowing an old Asus 7" tablet from work, which seems to be a lot quicker. I get a lot of my books through Google Play.

I use a kindle paperwhite and it's brilliant. So handy to use I can't imagine going back to paper. One issue I do have with it though is that it stopped recognising my pc after it's first update. When I plug it in to a pc or laptop it charges up but doesn't appear on my pc, even as an unrecognised device. I've scoured the internet for a fix but can't one anywhere. It means I have to source all my books via Amazon and the hundreds of books stored on my pc are useless because I can't load them onto the kindle. The only advice I got from Amazon was to do a factory reset. All this did was wipe out the hundreds of books stored on my kindle with no means of putting them back again.

Same here, I have spent equivalent of the weekly wage of a first team player on hardbacks & paperbacks over the years but the kindle is so much better, haven't purchased a 'real' book since I got it

Speaking of books just finished this

Been after a new Sci-Fi series to get into and this was surprisingly good

I'll give that a look. Have you read Old Man's War? Excellent sci-fi novel.
