I'm waiting for Pt2 of the film to drop.
There are a few not too bad prequels and off shoots about to read as well.

Yeah, the original is a classic for a good reason. I tried reading The Butlerian Jihad when I was in college but was not a fan of the writing quality and gave it up. Are any of the other offshoots worth a try?True-ish...maybe even stop at Children of Dune

The Original was thatgoodGreat that it could drag sequels, prequels, etc along with it...but not all of them...or not for long without losing some stragglers that, in all honesty, won't be missed and were probably more Publishers Contract commitments driven, rather than Author driven.
The Gurney Halleck and Duncan Idaho prequels have potential...as for writing quality and 'readability' well that's all in the eye of the beholder, you have to suck it and see.Yeah, the original is a classic for a good reason. If you like that then I would recommend you read his other series. Conqueror is my favourite by him but the Emperor series on Caesar is quite good too.I normally stick to crime or horror however a mate lent me the conqueror series by Conn Iggulden. Wow.
He was excellent in the radio comedy series The Penny Dreadfuls present : The Brothers Faversham, which I think he co- wrote. A very funny pisstake on Victorian society, no cliche is left unturned. Very funny and well worth a listen, as is it's sequel, More Brothers Faversham.I've just finished reading Miles Jupp's novel History.
If you are a fan of his style of humour and 'pathos' then you will enjoy it.
The 'History' bit relates to the main character who is History teacher at a minor Public School and the plot is along the lines of a letter day Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin. If it can go wrong it does, despite his best efforts to the contrary.
It's broken into 3 parts within the same novel.
Overall I enjoyed it, 6.5-7/10.
If you don't like Jupp's style as a comedian and broadcaster then you won't like his writing either.
It gets better (as a book) or 'worse' for the main character as it goes along.
Read this. Wasn't impressed from what I remember. He's famous for another book isn't he?
I don’t know tbh but can say I’m impressed either. It sounded interesting but it’s just overly gratuitous with the sex. Not that I’m a prude at all but it’s unnecessary. Tempted to not finish it but I’m half way through.Read this. Wasn't impressed from what I remember. He's famous for another book isn't he?
Prob not worth it I think. Sunk costs and what not. Bad money after good etc etc. Think that might be the reason I got it too. Interesting concept. Poorly executed.I don’t know tbh but can say I’m impressed either. It sounded interesting but it’s just overly gratuitous with the sex. Not that I’m a prude at all but it’s unnecessary. It was also the inspiration for the earlier series Homicide: Life on the Streets.Homicide by David Simon, the book that inspired TV hit series The Wire.
It's a doorstop, full of detail about procedures in the police service in Baltimore's crime-ridden streets. Not as entertaining as the show obviously!
I wouldn't recommend it really.
