Interesting - like to try that with non-fiction or technical stuff I read at work.

The novel has to be made from paper, for me. Every technical innovation I see just reinforces this point.

I agree it would be useful for stuff you have to read rather than for the enjoyment of reading.

I was against getting a kindle for a long time but since I've lived abroad and English books are so expensive to buy I haven't looked back at finally giving in and using ebooks.

Also I never properly thanked you for recommending Jonathan Franzen to me earlier on in this thread. Really enjoyed Freedom. Cheers.

Where did the towers go by Dr Judy Wood. A fascinating book and the only thorough scientific investigation about what actually happened to the towers on 9/11.

It's not about what actually happened. It's another 9/11 truther suggesting an alternative side of what happened. She suggests they were 'dustified'. She's been debunked even by other 9/11 truthers.
Where do you stand?

Can anyone recommend any good Chomsky books - I plan to buy one or two but can't make up my mind which ones, there are so many...

Are you wanting Politics Chomsky or Linguistic Chomsky? I'd guess Politics. He's good and engaging. I like him, I've seen him talk a couple of times. Just be aware that you really need to read around him and don't take him as Gospel as it can lead down some slightly OTT paths.
Anyway, Hegemony Or Survival was the first one I read and offers a view of America as Imperialist power.
You could actually just read The Essential Chomsky to get a start at it.

Have you read the book?

I'm aware of the book and the website. I haven't read it and, honestly, don't believe I have to. There are so many books/websites/videos about the 9/11 'Truth' that one cannot be expected to read/view all of them before making a decision. They use very closed evidence to 'prove' The Truth.

I hope this doesn't sound like I'm having a go, just re-read the comment, not meant to be aggressive.

Indeed, politics. I have been watching a lot of his talks on the internet recently. It's a refreshing alternative view to what we're usually presented with by govt and mass media.

I'll check out the titles you mentioned, thanks for that. Just curious, where do you think he strays into the OTT path?

He is very set in his views, views I broadly agree with, but whether to sell his argument more easily or because he is that far left, he often seems to have a refusal to discuss issues with non-Western countries - see Cambodia, USSR. Whilst USA acted poorly in these situations, they are not the only ones who did wrong. And the USA doesn't do everything wrong.

That's ok mate. The only reason I ask is that it's difficult to argue about a book if you haven't read it. The whole subject is quite indepth and there are reasons why there is so much disinformation out there as your last sentence indicates. All I can say is if you are interested in the subject I would recommend you read it. I'd love to know what you think of it.

Chomsky is a nutter and you can quite easily ignore 90% of what he says. That being said he does accasionally bring up some points that it would be nice if people delved into deeper. Just people who aren't him really.

just reading the idle traveller by Dan Kieran. About slowing down when travelling - obviously, and appreciating small details instead of rushing through everything (amongst other stuff) And Mandella autobiography which is fascinating.
