going for some Cormac McCarthy this week, Child Of God
it hasn't grabbed me yet like
It isn't bad, but it is dark book. It probably won't ever grab you.
Personally, I'd recommend Suttree or the Border Trilogy.
Any other author would be turning cartwheels if they wrote No Country for Old Men - but it's a bit ropey by McCarthy's standards.
God level - Suttree
Epic level - Blood Meridian, Outer Dark, The Crossing, The Road
Excellent level - The Orchard Keeper, All the pretty horses
Good level - Child of God, Cities of the Plain
Average level - No country for old men

cheers old chum, what did you think of Bloor Meridian ??? I thought that was very good
It was good but I didn't like it as much as people told me I would. To be fair, I think I had just been on a Vonnegut binge, so that may have had something to do with it.
was he the Vietnam war one ??? dispatches was it ??? liked that one, could sort of dip in and out of it at different bits and they were all very interesting, bit of an eye opener like
I'm not sure about that.
I'd recommend him. Many people would say read "Slaughterhouse-Five" but I'd point you toward "Cat's Cradle."
Also, off to Cuba next week so bought myself Our Man in Havana by Graham Greene. Looking forward to cracking that one open. May do that before Hemingway.
