With Pele's illness sparking debate come on let's have a discussion on who were the greatest - that THE greatest, that could go on for all time - but who deserves a mention.

Obvious ones and in no particular order ...

Pele
Messi
Ronaldo
Newer Ronaldo
Zico
Southall
Yashin
Best
Maradona (cheat)
Puskas
Charlton (B)
Henry

Carry on....
This but would add Duncan Edwards

….for me, Maradona was the best footballer. He was the reason Argentina won a World Cup with a largely ordinary side and won Serie A with Napoli the season after they struggled. A single player making that much difference has to be great. When he played for Barcelona at Real, he was applauded off the pitch by the Real fans.

Of the modern era greats, I prefer Ronaldo to Messi. They are both extraordinary, not least with their longevity but Ronaldo just always seemed to deliver. I was never the biggest Pele fan, the 1970 Brazil team was very special and he was a part of it but they disappointed in ‘66. Admittedly, Pele came in for a kicking but I thought Garrincha was magnificent in that side & they should’ve done better.

Maradona the best in my time.
