Because we are? There's literally the word terrifying in the headline, with literally a red-coded alarming temperature map of the weather today that the media & government are hyping up, which yous just said that messaging isn't for us.
Of course the messaging is for all of us: the timing of the article directly relates it to the heatwave we're having right now.
They're making us all hyper-aware of the situation.
Let's hope it's for good intentions.
1976 and 2003 off the top of my head had more excess deaths due to heat-related issues.
Did you also know that cold-temperature related deaths number tenfold the heat-related deaths?
I hope we see this level of hype, in the name of protecting the vulnerable, when winter hits.
Good stuff..out of interest, would you say Spain is significantly hotter, on average than the UK? And if so, do you think they may have adapted their infrastructure and perhaps culture to limit the effect of hot weather?
This isn't Current Affairs, Nym.Who let Holliday in here
Richmond Park is most dangerous in October when all the deers are horny.Weather not so bad so far where I am. Sat in Richmond park currently and it’s 33 degrees but doesn’t feel overly clammy which is nice
What is your point?really?
lol
i guess we can just leave it then
Does Spain have as severe winters and flooding as the UK?I linked the report earlier which described Spain's adaption to limit the effects of hot weather has saved thousands of lives.
They also have their siestas, wooden-window-doors, late-night culture (hot-chocolate bars open all night etc).
Britain being more like Spain would be pretty cool.
This isn't Current Affairs, Nym.
what's your point?Does Spain have as severe winters and flooding as the UK?
No, it has Paella.Does Spain have as severe winters and flooding as the UK?
They have to manage the effects of severe heat, but not severe cold.what's your point?
Old deers?Richmond Park is most dangerous in October when all the deers are horny.
So?They have to manage the effects of severe heat, but not severe cold.
So their infrastructure and culture is geared towards one hazard but not another.
Old deers?

I’m in the airport at dalaman now and it’s 39 degrees at last check … looking forward to cooler weather in about 5 hours or so too ?I’m sat in Tenerife as I type, it’s 26 degrees. I’ll be in Liverpool within 5 hours where it’s looking to be 34 degrees.
Some very backwards holidaying going on here lol
