The Illicit Power of Our Overpaid and Underachieving Players

Put it another way - imagine it was Nuno Santo with these results?

Or even Howe.

They'd have been long sacked.

Moshiri put everything into Benitez.

He give him too much autonomy. Too much control.
Exactly absolutely anyone else would’ve been long gone likewise if Jaffa performed like this at any other club he’d have been sacked. Think moshiri has digged his heels in on this one because he went against the fanbase and basically said he knows better than all of us

He didn't get the results. That's a given. The question is why he didn't. He got the results with a piss poor Newcastle team when he took them up from the Championship and handed that lot unbelievably 2 midtable finishes. That's what we have to ponder.

He was hamstrung here from the off, because the level of the fans has sadly sunk to the level of "just get Dunc in" - regardless of Benitez's Liverpool connections that's the real shocker.

We are a club shattered of confidence and direction. Benitez was a casualty of that as much as results.
He didn’t help himself with tactics though, constantly played Rondon, kicked the LB out. Blamed loads of injuries.
Set up as a counter attacking team that started so slow they where 1-0 down super fast which negates the whole point of CA. he constantly didn’t use all the subs either.
If he hadn’t sign Grey and Townsend, we would be bottom. His signings are the reason he kept the job so long

But you are assuming that because benitez wasn't the cause, he must have been the fix. His tactics have been shocking and the results have been too. Regardless of the players performances/attitudes/desire or whatever you want to say is lacking, the manager's job is to manage that and get the best out of the team. Benitez has failed miserably in that regard.
Doesn;t matter what tactics were adopted they would have been ignored.

He had one chance: get through to the summer and replace the bulk of the first team squad with his own players he could trust.

There WAS loads of injuries and it affected everything.

But look, there was no will to play for this manager.

So we have two choices:

1/ blame him for everything
2/ acknowledge that we have a playing staff that wont be professional

He didn't have the resources at Newcastle that he did here. I'm looking at the first team squad for them in 2017/18 when they got 10th and it looks dire in terms of quality. A dog's breakfast of a squad. No doubt the reason why he was hired by Moshiri was that he could see he'd overachieved with that lot getting them stable in the PL and that we had superior quality here, so that'd mean PL security here. And I dont think that was illogical. He just didn't factor in the lack of support for the manager from professional players and from his own boardroom.

This has been an organisational failure of epic proportions.

There'll be a new manager boost soon, but we are flatlining as an organisation. The club is in a critical position and it's down to a lack of professionalism amongst the playing staff.
He signed most of them, and for a fare chunk of money aswell

Dave he was appointed to keep us safe in the PL up until BMD was complete with no expectations and he couldn’t even manage that! That’s how poor of a manager he is, his Liverpool connections are way down the list as to why he shouldn’t be here.

Bruce did the same. They even threw the stats up to say Bruce was getting the same, if better, out of that team.

He's done as a top level manager. He was never hamstrung...he hung himself with his tactical choices.

If you can answer the difference between this and last season and not come up with Rafael Benitez...I'll be happy to hear it
You know what that difference was. The absence of an attack throughout most of this season. The absence of a genuine CB pairing for it.

It's utter BS to ignore that.

That excuses ended 4 weeks ago and he was still using it. We had pritty much a full strength squad for a few weeks. He over used DCL which got him injured in the 1st place. Mina always injured.
Injuries are not an excuses. For winning 1 in 13

No Mina. No Dom. Keane, Holgate, Godfrey all played in a pair last season.

Then why play the same way as if you still had those players?

He played 5 at the back and still conceded 2 goals a game

We haven't had Richarlison and DCL as a pair for months until second half yesterday.

He's been hounded from the off

He hasn't at all.

We all know a very small % didn't give him a chance.

We all know that the noise on social media isn't a true reflection of who actually turns up at Goodison.

He lost his job because he's done a horrendous job.

His decisions didn't warrant giving him more time.

You know @davek , For a guy that loves to mock conspiracy theorists, I'd say you were the David Icke of Evertonians.
