The Illicit Power of Our Overpaid and Underachieving Players

Richarlison, DCL, Mina coming back from injury and we have not had them for lots of the poor form recently.

The opposite is true also, 4 points from Arsenal and Chelsea, we can play well in big games. Losing to Norwich does not make us the worst team in the league. When you make big mistakes like Keane does early in a game, it does not matter how well you prepare.
It's not only been Norwich though, is it? It's a very concerning pattern throughout the season.

Win two games in hand and we are 11th. It’s not as bad as it seems. People obsessed with three in midfield. Lots of teams play with a 2 vs 3 in midfield. We are not blessed with central midfielders. And we have players who have made big errors that have cost us points.

Best tactician in the world cannot change Keane vs Norwich, Coleman vs Liverpool, Godfrey vs Wolves, Keane vs Brighton, Townsend vs Brentford etc.
There’s no guarantee we win the two in hand, we’ve just went to the ‘worst’ side in the league with a fully fit squad and got battered. We’re bottom of the form table form95% of the season for a reason.

Don’t have to be the best tactician in the world to not play bloody rondon as a number 10

The penny will drop eventually with fans who can’t see it.

These lazy arses couldn’t step it up for Martinez, Koeman, Silva, Allardyce, Ancelotti, why are they stepping up for anyone?

You’ve got a core of players who are just not good enough, and their mentality is atrocious, your Keane’s, Gomes’, Sigurdsson (when it mattered), Coleman, Holgate, Davies etc… they’re losers, they’ve always been losers, and they’re content with being “good enough”.

If you look at any half decent side in the Premier League, they’ve got fight and heart all over the pitch, players who play for the shirt.

Whether Benitez is an odious human and manager or not, they’ve still not been able to perform for 6 managers.
But as we’re Everton, how do we reward weak players? 5-year deals for the likes of Keane. We’re a shambles.

As soon as that extension came through for Keane it confirmed that no one in that club has any clue about football. The worst player in the league and we wanted him for five years.

The thread is about players hiding behind the manager and throwing him under the bus. Yet the manager will blame the players.

Mistakes come when you invite pressure. We have the 3rd lowest possession stats in the league. You bring that much pressure week in week out, mistakes will happen

What the hell is this? Here’s another pointless what if for you - if bottom of the table Burnley win their two giants in hand over us, they’re 2 points behind us.

So still behind us, yes?

Totally agree. But what will happen? A new manager will come in and all players will get a fresh chance to fail again. “He needs 12 months to assess the squad”.

Richarlison will know this and will leave. He does not have time to do this cycle again.

We didn't have a fully fit squad, let's be honest.

Our best players either came on to a two goal deficit ( Richy / Mina) or were not match fit (DCL).

Our game was yet again sabotaged by horrendous tactics.

We'll be fine when we can put out our best XI in a system that isn't 2005.

Like we’re the only club that has these players - not.
Our problem is the wrong type of manager.
We only work with an ex player in charge, non of these overhyped foreign coaches or managerial journey men.
Only ex players know the standard expected and can give the motivation needed.

They have performed. Just to their level, not to the level we want them too. Lowest finish under Moshiri is 12th.

Benitez is the only manager in that crop of managers to get nothing out of the squad.

Big Sam would've done better than Benitez. I can confidently say that.
