The impending forward crisis

It was sabotage.

The owner and board sabotaged their own manager.
You wonder in a way it's like they have an aversion for spending on a goalscorer. Also two seasons in a row we announced a manager just days before the window closed and didn't give the DOF apparently the funds to sign anyone of quality. We should have done a loan early in the window instead as is common with this club they dithered and delayed didn't sack Lampard or back him and we got deeper in a hole and more unattractive. A well run club would have sacked Lampard after Bournemouth certainly after Wolves or Brighton. If there's a way not to plan a transfer window they did it.

If Dominic Calvert-Lewin has no bad tear he has to get in that Leeds game at least.

It really is time though to get Simms game time and also start thinking about Gray as a false nine or Onana as a CF.

This club is pathetic. They sabotaged their own new manager and handed him a mountain to climb.
Yet I have this quiet confidence that he can make do. I think Simms will get minutes Monday either start or off the bench.

Why are we as a fan base so dismissive of tall strikers/target men?

I’ve lost count, this season, of how many times I’ve watched De Bruyne whip in a cross from the wing for Haaland to score from. I absolutely love a good whipped in cross for an advancing striker to get his head on.

We talk like it’s beneath us for some reason, same with Dyche‘s tactics/style. It’s all part of the game. They are all viable ways to play the game.
Are we really dismissive? Feels more like we just haven't been able to do it properly. Benitez bet his managerial life on it, then DCL got injured; Lampard wanted to play proper football, unsuccessfully, and so now Dyche is embracing the crossing thing again....Doesn't feel like fans dismiss it, more like we just haven't seen it!

Stick mina or Keane up there
Been saying this about Keane myself. Heard a rumour that Keane is supposed to be the best finisher at the club and that Ancelotti considered doing it if there was an injury to both Richarlison and DCL.

A very 90s thing to do - Sutton, Dublin, Marshall and Warhust all played centre half and centre forward.

Would be laughed at by most pundits/ fans but if anyone didn’t care it would probably be Dyche. Can’t be a worse option than Maupey and would help provide an attacking threat at set pieces if nothing else which lets be honest will be our best chance of scoring

Keane won't have to turn if he plays upfront so I'm in...

Er, yeah, think that might have started on here after he scored a few in a training video…… I wouldn’t put too much faith in it Tbf.

I'd honestly just play him upfront...No Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Simms is not good enough, Maupay is poor, and Gray is wasted there, so play him there and he can defend from the front as well and if he scores the winner then it's...win, win, win, win...
OMG so you prefer a central defender up front based on a training rumour compared to Simms who has hardly had any minutes in the PL but has scored goals wherever he has gone on loan hahaha. It has to be Simms to have someone to aim at/bring others into play

Normally would assume defeat at the pit. If DCL isn’t available might be a good game to give Simms a start. The RS defence is a bit suspect at the moment and Simms might give them a different problem to deal with. Also Maupay is practically useless

There is the argument of why did we bring him off loan if we are not going to play him. If he doesnt play then Dyche doesnt rate him or hes not pulling his weight in training.
