Have a funny feeling UTD will come in for Rodwell.

If the RS would pay 35 million for Carroll, how much could Everton get for Rodwell at the moment?

Just thinking like I do when I buy lottery tickets - already got the money spent before I hit the sidewalk.

30 million?
40 million?

Wouldn't do it now with only hours left in the window but in the summer....that's alot of cheddar to turn down.

The Editor:
Interesting stats - if Liverpool pay £35million for Andy Carroll they are getting a player outscored in the Championship last season by Peter Whittingham, Nicky Maynard, Gary Hooper, Michael Chopra and Charlie Adam.

Says it all.

£35m for an unproven Peter Crouch - please let this be true, please. They'll lose a world class striker and bring in a half-decent carthorse.

From the BBC:

1604: Everton fans, are you feeling left out while all this transfer business (or transfer madness) is going on? Don't be. David Moyes is set to seal the signing of 19-year-old striker Apostolos Vellios from Iraklis today. The Greek club confirmed on their website late last week that they had reached agreement with Everton and Moyes added: "We are hoping we can bring in a young player from Greece."

Thanks. I feel much better now, and completely included in proceedings.

Andy Carroll would be a class signing tbh. suarez and Carroll for Torres is a good piece of business for our loveable neighboues unfortunately

OMG, even the BBC are taking the piss.

If they put that shake hands Done Deal icon on it, I'm strapping a suicide belt on and heading down to Radio Merseyside.

I make that BBC Transfer deadline update officially - 10 days behind LCAB and THT.

Not bad going though.

It's good business for the RS. The money for Carroll is over the top, but it's a statement of intent and a bit of a coup to get one up on Spurs. I can't really see Torres fitting in at Chelsea somehow. He'll probably be injured before too long anyway.

Blackpool are making some nice moves. Andy Reid looked like a tidy player at one point. For a mill, I think he can dictate things like Murphy does for Fulham. That'll leave them 6 million to reinvest after the sale of Adam. Not so sure about the Beattie signing. I think his legs have gone.

But what debt? You have to spend or lose money to have debt, and we've spent nothing in well over a decade, so where is it lost?

Serious questions have to be asked after this - can't just keep accepting the fact we're skint and not asking why!

Have a look at the 2009 accounts (until the 2010 ones come out). Plenty of debt there. Plus you have the murmurings of Bk's debt to Philip Green. And then you have the cost of all the increased wages coupled with our lack of investment and not very significant revenue. Add in Bill and the board's incompetance and you have a recipe for transfer window inactivity.

They'll announce we signed Marouane Fellaini from Standard Liege any week now.
