He just needs to be on that graasssss...You'd have to refamiliarise him with the shape of the ball in that case.

He might decide to replace Doucoure with Gomes in some games (Tosun-Rodon style). The only thing Gomes can do now is pass, he cant tackle and he cant run, he has never been prolific in terms of goals.
I would be surprised if Gomes plays because Dyche is not going to play that way. He plays with 2 defensive players in the middle and one that gets in the box

Well, I just hope he performs well enough when called upon.I think if Doucoure is out, we are more likely to play Danjuma as a Second Srtiker and Garner on the wing, than play Gomes. Hes so far down the pecking order, I feel like we would have to have 3 injuries in central midfield for him to get a game.
Dyche does need to figure out a midfield 3 configuration in the absence of the axis of Gana/Doucoure, so would not be weird if he tries new experiments on the Pitch (instead of in training). The only thing Gomes can do now is pass, he cant tackle and he cant run, he has never been prolific in terms of goals.

We drop Gueye or Onana tomorrow at our own peril, both of them are needed to get a grip of the midfield.
While I like him, I think Garner should drop to the bench and we keep Doucoure as the more advanced CM. He's proven effectively in that role. If Doucoure is having one of his days were his passes are war-crimes, then sub off for Garner or go 4-2-3-1 and get any of Danjuma, McNeil or Harrison behind the striker.

Still on 4 sadly.
Doucoure needs competition for the no 10 position, no doubt. Dyche could try Danjuma there, possibly McNeil. When doucoure went off last week, we had no midfielder get in the box. Onana and Garner do not offer a goal threat so we are reliant on Doucoure, the wingers and DCL
Garner+Onana should always be our fallback or 'basic plan' option, every other configuration of midfield should be a variation of it this season.I’d have Garner + Onana as the starting midfield in a 3/4/2/1 or a 4/2/3/1 whenever possible. Play them as much as possible together and let them build up a partnership. Central midfield and the no 10 position are definitely areas needing strengthened. But if those 2 can form a good working partnership, I think it’ll go a long way towards helping Everton climb the table.
Garner + Onana.
They played well as a pair against Villa but that was helped by us playing 343 and Villa fielding a weaker side. Wouldn't mind Gueye with either one of the other alongside but I think Onana takes better care of the ball so I'd go him.
Kalvin Phillips hasn’t been getting selected for City I think. If he’s not picked whilst Rodri is suspended then he’s never getting a game. Surely a January loan makes sense
