The Moyes Era

Someone said it took Kenny a year to win a cup. It took him 100 mil to win a cup no one else wanted. If Moyes was given 100 mil this summer we would get 4th an a cup. Moyes has turned us from a relagation candidate with 0 assets in to a top 7 club with assets. Moyes simply needs to win something but doesn't seem to no how. He and his team cower at the big occasion. He was given his chance by Fergie in 2009. When he played a 2nd string Utd side that we only just beat on pens. Then chocked at Wembely.

The only problem I have with Moyes is his transfers. He buys great players but he doesn't buy GAME changers. An about 27 goalies

To be fair I dont think the 100m Dalglish spent helped him win a cup at all. Judging by the fact that they have made two cup finals I would say he is good at making them raise their games in big matches. Something we dont do.

The rest of what he does is crap though obviously.

Also his negativity. Example. We are above Liverpool. Have a better squad then them and are on fire. We're they been battered all 2012 an he comes out with WERE UNDER DOGS. No wonder we lost. Already conceding before it kicked off. Should of said were the favourites and were gonna prove it. Instead he gave the team an excues to lose

Moyes has completely turned the club around, no one can deny that. He hasn't been given the funds to complete his work and Everton are on a slow downhill slope. Unless he is given decent funds to work with, we will continue to gradually slide down the league.

He's done an excellent job but I don't see how he can take us any further and I fail to see how any other manager could really. If you want to be a club who consistently wins trophies and gets into Europe, you need decent funds to work with.

A bit of f*cking effort and interest wouldn't go a miss.

Liverpool beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and won a two legger against the then league champions to get to that final; they weren't just handed it.

Excellent post....

Time and time again... Year after year moyes has never been able to finish his teams off. We srart a season off with the likes of osman on a wing, vic on another or up front ect ect and people seem to think this is moyes choice of how to play. Completely ignoring the fact that he knows what were missing and need yet CANT afford them. Give him money wed have the kind of players we want and need and trophy's.

As 4 the obsession of we should beat liverpool because we have a better squad so therefore moyes bottled it...well... I think blue tinted glasses tbh. We do not have a better squad. We certainly didnt have a better match day squad for the cup game and on top of that they also had alot more big game experience in there team.

And yes imo 100M or whatever liverpool spent if moyes had that cash this summer we would be challanging top 4 and both cups.

We got it as good as we can realisticaly hope for without investment imo.

Isn't Moyes the man who spent £25m from Lescott on three centre halves and a Russian midfielder who hardly got a look in? Around the same time that Darren Bent went to f*cking Sland?

...and don't forget about resigning Jo on loan.

I've been a follower since 95/96, no doubt that when he came to the club we was in bad place and he has completly transformed us from relegation candidates to a solid upper mid-table side. That aside, I feel over the past few seasons we have become stale. This season particularly has been poor. Yes we are 7th in the league, yes we are above Liverpool, yes we've been to the semi finals of the FA Cup BUT, in my opinion our league position is in part down to the decline of other teams (such as Liverpool, Aston Villa) rather than our own improvement. Yould argue that our biggest wins (Man City, Chelsea and Spurs) all came at a time in the season when they where in a poor run of form. Throw in picking up 8 points out of 26 at home against the bottom 6, and not to mention, some of the worst football we've seen in years as well as tactical nightmares. I don't think Moyes has the knowhow to take us to that next level. I've said this before but I would like to see someone like Mark Hughes come in, he may not be the most likeable chap in the world but he's a winner. Laid the foundations at City, did a good job with Blackburn and Wales. Wasn't really at Fulham and QPR long enough to make an impression. Maybe even somebody like Martinez although I feel that would be going from one end of the tactical scale to another and he'd try to change too much.

I think its time for Moyes to move on, with a massive thank you but I feel he's taken us as far as he ever will.

No-one could ever deny it, shame it was years ago though.

Moyes is still doing a decent job at Everton considering the budget and limitations he has at the club. I'm not saying he's faultless, far from it as I'm just as frustrated as everyone else with him but looking at the bigger picture, he is still doing a decent job considering our current league position.

I think he'll move on soon enough and we'll end up having a young manager again who won't get near the success Moyes has brought and I think a lot of fans will then realise what a great job he was still doing at Everton. He has his faults yes but he's the best man for the job STILL at the moment. Despite what some fans might think, Everton are on a gradual downhill slope and will continue that way until we're staring relegation in the face. We don't have the resources to punch above our weight continually anymore. I think were doomed personally with the current board if Moyes leaves but I'm just hoping he may stick it out and try and bring a fresh new approach to the club with selling high value players for decent fees and bringing in younger players with potential, similar to Newcastle (Although we'll see how that works out in the next couple of seasons) and teams like Valencia and Villareal in Spain as I think that is the only way forward for Everton.

Im not buying this no money myth, he's had money, maybe not quite the silly amounts other clubs have but we've had money. 15m for Fellaini and 10m for Bily for example, teams like Stoke haven't spent much more than us, and this season look at the likes of Swansea and Norwich and their spending. I know its a big difference doing well over 10 years compared to just 1 but Norwich have essentially transformed from a League One side to Premier League in 2 seasons, and Swansea where in Division 3 (now League 2) when Moyes took over

Fellaini has probably justified his fee. I agree on the Bilyaletdinov shout though. Moyes has done fairly well with his buys over his time though, I don't think he's had too many horror shows apart from Bilyaletdinov and Kroldrup. Beattie maybe but we should him for a £2 million loss, so things aren't all that bad.

Moyes has had to sell to buy, you cannot deny that. Stoke have spent quite a fair bit without player sales, I'm not sure why you are saying them as an example.

Given what happened against the RS in the last 6 weeks plus his 10 year record against all the top clubs just what would is needed to make you say enough is enough?

Without being a c#nt about it I really don't get it.

Is the average league position of 8th worth the style of play, surrender monkey antics and sheer hopelessness that surrounds Moyes and this Everton worth it.

Wouldn't you prefer the excitement of Sunderland more regularly, wouldn't the chance a new manager with a different mindset bringing the youngsters through and playing with pace and creativity be worth a punt?

I'm completely at a loss.
