The Music of GOT

The original version of this track is taken from the '300' soundtrack
I've wanted to remix this track ever since I first heard it over 13 years ago, but never really found the right sound or vibe to do it justice.

I've been listening to a lot more darker and progressive music of late and wanted the track to have that juxtaposition of a darker techno inspired intro/outro with a huge emotional breakdown and drop. I think I've managed to achieve that here.

The original track is in a bit of an odd time signature (I.e. not in the electronic producers usual safe haven of 4/4) so the main section and breakdown actually run in loops of 20 bars rather than the usual 8/16 that these types of tracks run in. I was going to edit the sample to fit a more conventional loop length, but I kind of like how unusual the progression of the chords sound this way.
The intro/outro sections are in a more normal 8 bar loop system though.

Enjoy

My bass player is being a pain in the arse about this one and says the chorus is a straight rip off of some 60s garage tune I've never heard and he can't remember the name of.

Help me out people, would you say on the face of it that the chorus is the same as anything else you've heard (except for Breath by the Prodigy, I know it's the same chords as that but I don't think you can really argue they're similar)?

Heard the original at work on the radio just before I was about to head home and got it stuck in my head. So decided to do my own take on this 90's dance classic. I usually try to avoid tracks that already have a gazillion remixes around already, but that vocal is just so infectious isn't it? I decided to head outside of my comfort zone and go for a more summer themed, deep, tribal house approach and I'm really pleased at how it turned out! Hope you enjoy it!

Great track that mate. Brought back a lot of memories of my sisters getting bladdered with their mates in their bedroom before heading out and causing havoc in the city centre!
