Was half thinking of starting an Ale House thread called Currant Affairs dedicated to discussing currants.
Just not the same, is it?
Red currant is my fave, btw.
Mate, you are just being obtuse now. On purpose. You must like being called dim, the only explanation. But Ireland is not one of the four home nations, they are England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland and Ireland are different countries. That is the exact point I am making.
Does this mean we get back neg rep?
And I appreciate you giving it a try and I understand your argument. But that doesn't change the fact that Ireland is not part of the UK and not a home nationI'm feeling generous of spirit, since all other challengers slipped seamlessly into the night. I thought I would give this one a try.
Maybe he has a weird fetishMate, you are just being obtuse now. On purpose. You must like being called dim, the only explanation.

I am not being obtuse. I am simply making the point that Ireland is no longer part of the UK, it hasn't been for a very long time now and it is not a home nation. Why is that concept so difficult to grasp?Mate, you are just being obtuse now. On purpose. You must like being called dim, the only explanation.

Understand your pride has been dented but there’s simply no need for the aggressive toneGo on then, show me where I am wrong. Show me something that says Ireland is a home nation or just do the usual and post comments without any substance. Why not prove me wrong and show me up if you can?
I think @Bohemian Toffee has just eloquently explained the sticking point. I do believe I have at least twice indicated a differentiation between sporting jurisdiction and nation states and you chose to ignore and continue this circuitous debate.I am not being obtuse. I am simply making the point that Ireland is no longer part of the UK, it hasn't been for a very long time now and it is not a home nation. Why is that concept so difficult to grasp?

Great, so you agree Ireland is not a home nation. It is over 100 years since Ireland was part of the UK.It was a footballing home nation, because it was a member of the United Kingdom. It is no longer, but it was.
