…the criteria can’t be that they have performed better than Thelwell because that opens it up to Betty, my 96 year old mother-in-law

Not sure I agree with you that O’Brien is a dud, we’ve both posted that Mangala is out of the game when the opposition goes past and Lindstrom doesn’t look any more effective than Harrison. This is the quality he’s recruiting.

Ndiaye is decent, 1 out of four summer signings a regular starter :hayee::hayee::hayee:, doing a great job, though. Hopefully Chermiti and Broja can save him because it’s quite grim. Despite what you say, I have given him genuine credit for a couple of the youth signings and suggested he might get a job somewhere looking after an Academy.

Now let’s read your excuses that all the bad signings are down to somebody else & Thelwell bought Garner (who I’ll give him credit for, even if I’m told that was very much the work of Ashley Cole).

Imo a loan signing (due to having no money) is a little bit different to actually spending serious money on permanent deals.

So off the top of my head the one first team signing made that Bobble stated was not his has been: Maupay.

The rest:
Tarkowski
Young
Garner
O'Brien
Iroegbunam
Garner
McNeil
Chermiti
Beto
Ndiaye

Which of these signings have been poor? For me, its Beto. The remainder have been average at worst.

That includes Young who I suspect was more on Dyche and I dont think was nor should have been earmarked as a starter.

If youre saying a different DOF has done a superior job with not only ZERO money...but actually GENERATING vast amounts of money -- putting the club as the least spenders in the league since arriving.

Name one...

….posters seem to think there’s a budgetary excuse for buying poor footballers. Fulham played us recently with two very good full backs, a ageing striker bought for buttons and a midfielder Thelwell sold for £20m that would still walk into this Everton team. I think their DoF is a US wrestling entrepreneur with no background in ‘soccer’.

Paying £25m for Beto on the ‘never, never’ doesn’t make it a good signing, I’d actually say he’s no more effective than Ellis Simms both are a long way short of what we need.

This is at its kindest, daft...

Due to PSR, Simms HAD to be sold as did donkey Iwobi. Those are the rules.

To assess the DOF in isolation in signings you have to actually look at the rules :o

Perhaps you could point out the players fulham signed for "buttons" during Thelwells tenure? Those players who were signed with little money or zero down on the drip?

No?

….my word, that’s a sad list. i think you’d certainly do better than acquiring that lot for £100m, Zat.

I actually believe thelwell has done a good job. The market is extremely difficult these days. The scouting system at every club is world class. So when your at a team with the finances we have, the job is nigh on impossible. I think Ndiaye is good, O'brien and Mangala may not have been his signings as Textor may have had a say in those. Lindstrom is a dud it seems. Iroegbunam has potential but still a lot to learn.

I think the issue is the manager doesn't have a skillset to use a number of the players.

This is a manager who has not had injury problems like Frank had and he has also just had the easiest start to the Premier league season out of all the teams and has managed to find 10 goals in 13 games. That's abysmal and I know the players we have are capable of better than that. He's just not getting enough out of them and they seem to be going through the motions for him. He has lost the fans too and with that in mind he simply needs to go before he causes further damage.

This, 100%

yep. but the damage is going to get worse the nxt two games

surely after liverpool he’s gone that sunday/monday

There are actally tonnes of different options out there that would make us an attractive proposition for any manager

Not sure if Potter would choose us though
Moyes obviously would want to take the job
Carsley would think about it
Carrick is really pushing on at Boro, but think he'd choose us if we offered it to him
Same for Corberan
I like what Carrick is doing at boro. He’s certainly produced one of the best footballing sides in the division.
