It's an analytics thing. The thinking is winning in regulation is more desirable than forcing OT. So when down 14 if you go for two on the first of the two TDs you need you can then kick the XP to win the game if you convert the initial 2 pts. If you don't you can still go for two again to force OT. Two pointers are usually around 50% so most the time you'll get at least one. Obviously it makes you look silly if you do miss both but the idea is getting one either wins or ties the game without having to go to overtime which would then require another score.
Ah yeah interest point that, could be a good last 90 seconds this

Belichick
I think that's it too. Amazing how much that night seems to have damaged him and Goff.
Offensive line is also massively different from last year. Starting center in Sullivan retired, Saffold left in FA, and even a few of the new starters have been injured. Rams had a top 5 O-line last year and now its playing like a bottom 5 O-line. Only Russ can somehow make bottom 5 o-lines look good haha

The line is much worse. But that doesn't really explain to me at least why McVay's play calling seems to have completely changed. And definitely changed for the worse. You can still run play action on early downs, be aggressive on early downs, not run on every 2nd down and whatever else it was that made him good before. It's just all gone this season.

It's incredible the career Russell has carved out behind abysmal pass blocking lines. Thank you for recognizing that fact.
