I had one of these that took 50p in my student digs. I was astonished how quickly 50p was consumed. Back then it should have been 10 units, but i reckon i only got half that. It was my first introduction, as an innocent youth, that big corporations actually had the gall to charge the poor (ie those people who had cash meters) far, far more for energy than the rest. Utterly unconcionable and evil. It set me up to a future of dispising free market economics, big corporations and capitalism.
Found those absolutely hypnotising as a kid. And I don't think there's ever been a more satisfying click/clunk than putting the money in them.
