The Oldies Thread

For reference, I'm in my late 30's pushing 40...

So to my younger cousins, anyone born in the last century is an old person.

It's a rite of passage I guess... Going from being the young knobhead who thinks he's the shiznit, to becoming the old man who's 'yelling at the clouds'. 😂

Haha yeah, gathered, I just know there are older folk than us here for whom we're still the young knobheads

It's how time turns, we all have to go through those stages anyway.

Just a minute, when did we start a kiddies section in here ?…..

I'm still trying to get a "proper" job after 7 months being out of work. The job centre told me to modify my CV so the Employer can't guess my age so had to remove dates I've left school and only go back 20 years in job History. It's a waste of time because after you have applied for a job online a "Diversity" form appears where you have to tick a box in what age groups you fall in and of course mine is the "62 to 67", I got no chance 😉 .

Sorry to hear that Sue. Next time tick a mid 40’s box and see what happens. If they mention anything about age at the interview just say “I’m sure you wouldn’t discriminate due to age”…….

Re-fill in the form and how shall I put it...'manage their expectations'*

Hint; it rhymes with 'Forkies'

Ageism seems to be the one 'discrimination' that no one gets outraged by these days.
I can see the Employers point of view in away, I've got 20 months before I retire so why start someone in a position they will have to fill again soon. I've never not got a job I've been interviewed for as I can sell myself pretty well it's just getting the interview.

On the train home from the Springsteen gig at Wembley. Aching feet and knackered from standing and arm waving for over 3 hours. He’s 74 and was amazing.

He’s also played at Wembley more times than we have this century, as my cockernee mates loved telling me throughout the day.

….my niece posted on FB she went to Wembley with her family last night, they are Park End season ticket holders so you wasn’t the only Toffee in attendance.

Amazing to think I first saw him in about 1976 at Birmingham NEC. Certainly one of the great live performers.
