The Oldies Thread

….’we plough the fields and scatter’, harvest festival. Taking food to an old person, I remember taking mine to my Aunty Cisse who lived in flats (still there) at the junction of Kensington and Hall Lane. The reality is, old Aunty Cisse spent her days at the bar of the nearby Coach and Horses, good on her.

Laughing at the thought that I’m as old now as the pensioners I visited then

Because I was little my brother and cousin would dress me up in my Dad's old clothes, stick the guy mask on me and find an old pushchair and push me around as "penny for the guy" and then run off with the money to buy 10 Park Drive 😔 😟
I heard a story when I little don't know if it was just a scare story of somebody doing that and the guy getting stabbed by passing scallies thinking it was just a dummy.

I worked in a Currys' shop in 1974, so there are blasts from the past in that list, especially, Zoppas (Ignis was another) Pye and Bendix. I used to deliver them but, after losing my driver's licence, worked in the shop (North Finchley). When I got my licence back, and sat in the queue for petrol during the shortages, I couldn't believe the price had risen to ten bob a gallon!

That could even be me in the Ford Anglia. It was the same blue as the flying one in the Harry Potter film. Mine flew too but ended up on its roof (hence me losing my licence as an irresponsible 22 year-old)
