Remember a fella, banging a a bin lid like that, with a big stick at about 3.0am
shouting the war is over. How’ that for a memory.

….that is a brilliant memory. I can imagine that was very much a ‘where were you’ moment.

Weird how they stick in your mind. I remember hearing my Mum talking to a neighbour at the back of Lytton St in Everton about JFK being shot. A lot more recently, heading to a meeting in Leeds on M62 near Brighouse when it came on the radio that Alan Ball had died.

Yes, it will stay with me. Someone shouting the war is over was epic.
 
I remember Gandhi being assassinated in the late nineteen forties and also the murders in a cinema in Liverpool The Cameo in 1949, the trials, three of them lasted a few months with George Kelly and Charles Connolly convicted of the murders, Kelly was hung and Connolly sentenced to ten years in jail after pleading guilty to a crime he didn’t commit, both these sentences were repealed many years later after evidence revealed a bent detective and two prime witnesses committed perjury at the trial.
