The Other Clubs January 2015 Transfer Window Thread

I'd always assumed football year mate but based on zero info, you could well be right.

Not sure why they would stop them registering him though if it was calendar year.

The world governing body's transfer rules prevent a player from appearing for more than two clubs in one season.

The midfielder played eight games for Hull and one for Newcastle's under-21s earlier this season, with Fifa ruling the latter to be an official match.

The France international, a free agent after his release from Newcastle, joined Nice on 5 January, but was not available for Saturday's 3-1 win against Lorient as he awaited international clearance.

The delay centred around article 5.3 of Fifa's regulations on the status and transfer of players, which states: "Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season.

"During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs."

A statement on Nice's website confirmed the club had received a copy of correspondence sent by Fifa to the French Football Federation.

It said that contrary to the position of the Football Association in England, Fifa had classed the under-21 match for Newcastle United as "official".

Cheers for the clarification. Looks like Ben Arfa is going to get a nice long rest to pile on the pounds.

for some easy money put mikel arteta to sign for real sociedad at the end of the season if he doesn't sign a new contract. former club, former manager and can play starring role in the team despite his legs having gone.

With his injury record lately and age would be a good move for him. He has done a good job for us over the last 3 years and to most gooners, he led us to the FA cup last year not Tommy Vermaelen. Hope he gets the move. Top guy.

I agree. Some people may resent him but i firmly believe he never asked to leave Everton. PErhaps bordering on the conspiracy theory tetatory here but i think the version i have id different. At the time we were loaning 2 players in and selling two strikers to fund it, then arteta suddenly asks for a move 30 minutes before deadline? He took the fall for the club in my eyes, they planned to sell him and deflected it to look like he wanted to leave.

Biggest evidence, since when does Wenger sign players without a medical or thoroughly checking a player, especially after a serious 9 month out injury?

I don't dislike Arteta for leaving, we needed him to to survive I guess. Him scoring at Goodison and kissing the arsenal badge was when I went off him. Him acting like a tit in general to us after leaving is where I went off him.

Wasn't that at Ashburton Grove(emi***es) when he scored the penalty in the cup game last year. The pen the ref made him take twice.

I never understood why he did that, just assumed he was getting dog's abuse from the away fans.

Just seen Soldado's miss from last night....if he played for any other team,I'd start to feel sorry for the guy. It was almost as bad as Iwelumo's miss at Hampden a few years ago. I don't think he ever played for Scotland again.

Have to wonder what would happen to Spurs if Kane pulled his hamstring.

Who do you support?

According to the secret footballer (never heard of him myself) on twitter he has said schneiderlain is off to Arsenal in the summer for £25 million. Not a bad deal for both involved.

Mad to think a young lad they signed in league one could be sold for that much.

If Secret Footballer is the same as the guy who does the newspaper column and a very very interesting book, then it could well be true.

Probably just a random though!

Bloody hell, Iturbe, Gervinho, Ljajic, Salah and Florenzi?

We should move for one of them then, could get one cheap.

Iturbe is a no go he just arrived with barca chasing him (transfer ban stopped that) gervinho isnt good enough, Ljajic would be a decent buy, would prefer salah as a out and out winger of those mentioned, i think florenzi is a central midfielder isnt he ?
