The Other Clubs January 2015 Transfer Window Thread

Chelsea bid 16M pounds for Douglas Costa because they don't have enough midfielders and could do with one or two more:confused:

Chelsea have told Roma they will only allow winger Mohamed Salah to leave this month as part of a permanent deal worth over £11m. The Blues were not expecting to do any major business in January but are prepared to sell Salah, who is yet to start in the Premier League this season.

Roma had hoped to take Salah on loan but Chelsea have told the Italian giants they would have to make the switch permanent at the end of the campaign. Chelsea are demanding £760,000 for an initial six-month loan spell, with an obligation to pay another £10.6m in the summer.

The deal would see the Blues recuperate the fee they paid Basel to sign Salah just 12 months ago. It is understood, however, Roma view that package as too expensive for a player who has managed only two goals in almost 14 months.

Only one problem with that article,it's written by an Arsenal blogger.... Yes another one... So he might be erring on the positives.

One thing that struck me in the article though was the work permit issues and the cost.

Two Greek CB's we could have bought in the summer for less each(Manolas and I forget the other ones name) and both ended up at Roma because we low balled and what's wrong with Reid,at least he knows the league and won't need bedding in.

Also the home office are supposed to be clamping down on football clubs taking the Mick out of work permits for non-EU nationals.
good to see the home office putting their resources to good use, the bunch of bells

Looks like the Paulista deal is definitely on,he's been left out of the squad for their game against Levante.

They must think they're going to get a work permit as it's a bit risky.

BBC reporting on their site, that Arsenal have been granted a work permit for Paulista.

Wenger in buying player we actually need shocker.

On another note,I can't believe Shaun Maloney is 32. I had him as being mid twenties.

And you also managed to save £700,000 on your Euro 18m fee due to the exchange rate following the Greek vote.

Looks like we can add the Arsenal to the luck the RS enjoy :)

This must be why we haven't signed anyone yet.

Bill's been waiting for the right exchange rate.

CASSANO QUIT THREAT

Forward Antonio Cassano has revealed that he could retire from the game after quitting Parma on Monday.

"They've been taking the p*** out of me for seven months so I just decided enough is enough," Cassano said. "If I don't find another club by June, I might give up with football altogether."

Well he seems like a happy camper
