The Pienaar situation

Re bringing youngsters through,

vic and vaughny and now rodwell have all been around the first team and all have been plagued by injury.
Maybe they should be hitting the first team when they are men and able to cope better with the physical side.
Maybe if premier league wasnt so much kick n run they could come through sooner.
Just a thought

And it comes back to what I said mate, if they are good enough, they play.

Im just gonna take Duffy as an example, hes a good prospect, he has lots of potential, but hes not better than Johnny, Distin or Jags, so he rightfully was "dropped" for them.

I personally dont rate Baxter and he wont make it at Everton.

Jack Rodwell, Wayne Rooney are 2 names I can think of, they have both come into the side and stayed in the side.

As said, the lower Leagues are full of Premiership Youth players, its not just Everton, look around the Premiership, how many "youth" players litter the squads, Arsenal clearly stand out, but they are mostly bought players, they arent really 12 Year olds that come thru, well some are, but thats the route Wenger has taken, they could afford to take this route.

We all wanna see young lads come thru, its great to see a young player making an impact and it would be great to see the next "Rooney", but maybe he isnt there.

I didn't say Duffy was better than those 3 but he got a chance in the team because of injuries and more than held his own.

He wasn't given that chance by Everton being a club where youth gets a chance *apart from during an injury crisis*.

Why hasn't he had a game during the centre back rotation Moyes has been doing? Cause Moyes doesn't like to give youth a chance if he has an experienced player to play.

But maybe they are all **** our reserves.

But how else do you prove if you are good enough to play in the Prem? By being given a chance by playing in the Prem.

But young players (rightly or wrongly) don't get that chance at Everton apart from in an injury crisis.

Top quality youngsters coming through ala Rooney probably will get a chance. But they don't really need it if they;re that good thats the point.

You should be giving a chance to other fringe players, give them a few games, have them in the squad and give them a few sub appearances to start with and maybe play some games near the end of the season when Moyes is happy to throw away league points to concentrate on the league.

But they're not. Cause the're either that bad or cause Moyes is too cautious.

Either way they don't get a chance.

On this point we will have to disagree.

His progress is being "blocked" by Fellaini, who lets face it, is approaching World Class, IMO clearly.

And Gibson is certainly earning his place.

Rodwell needs games, injury and the 2 players above are stopping this, his progress is defo getting affected tho, whether thats Moyes fault, I would say no.
hes played 100 games for everton has he not

Death, you do make a fine point and I know you didnt say Duffy was better.

But im sorry to spout the same ****, but if they are good enough, they will push thru.

But as I say, its hard to argue with your points.

Foxster, Rodwell is possibly too nice, personally thats a factor, he needs some snide in him.

Have you seen a young Berbatov?

see i don't see too much difference between that and carroll's "dive" last week. I honestly believe KKK was being genuine when he said he just tripped and lost his footing

in what way ken

Ad long as 15mill came our way, id get over it.

I dont think moyes knows how to get the best from him (he is a continental style player imo) and he needs champs league footy by time hes 24.

All depends on the new manager at spurs with new ideas, so I can't see the pienaar situation moving on until thats sorted.

Agree 100% - I think this season if it has shown nothing else is that Moyes doesn't give youth a chance. His treatment of Velios, Barkley & Duffy has been extremely poor.

He is my absolute favorite player Moyes has ever signed, a talismanic, intelligent player who was put in the shadows by Arteta.

I agree about his qualities.

A lot on here will pull up his stats though and say Baines made him look good though...which what happened when he left.

I think we should move on though

For me, it all depends on the price. We shouldn't be losing money on him returning. Other than that, would love to see him return.

Have you seen the games from earlier on in the season where Velios started? He isn't ready right now and at best is useful as a sub. For the games which he started, he went missing for the majority of the match and looked a bit off pace. The fact that now we have more strikers than we know what to do with (Jelavic, Big Vic, Stracq, McFadden) means he's not going to get a look in. Honestly, I'd send him out on loan like we did McAleny, Baxter, etc.

Barkley and Duffy, are seemingly very good prospects, but I don't think they're ready yet. They certainly wouldn't get in over Jags, Heitinga, Distin, Gibbo, etc right now. I think Duffy is more ready than Barkley, but I think for the most part they're not ready for full 1st team roles yet.

To be honest, I can't see Rodwell breaking through the first team fully either anymore. Fellaini is one of the best defensive-mids in the league, and Gibbo has been absolutely outstanding for us. The two of them really solidify our midfield, and I can't see Rodwell coming in and breaking that up.
