The females' attempt isn't even correct use of language. In this context man means mankind/humankind. The word man would need a or the in front to make the point they think they're making.

Of course you could argue without women there's no such thing as mankind, but the same is true of the males (without males, there's no such thing as humankind either), so it's moot.
