He seems to fit what we currently need in the near term.

I know none of us liked his "knife to a gunfight" mentality but he could always spot cheap talent and this team needs an overhaul with it appearing that we have very little money to spend until the stadium money kicks in. I would trust him to be able to find a cheap LB, winger, and striker. I bet he could get a lot out of Patterson as well.

Maybe the plan is for him to manage in the short term and become DOF with a new manager in the long term?

Would like us to take on the Ajax, PSV model of finding cheap, young talent, like what we were supposed to have done with Brands as DOF.

Did he not say in an interview a couple of weeks ago that he would like to be a manager again but not in a relegation battle?

Can't help but think that was pointed at Everton...

Having said that, not sure who else would be lining up for Everton...

Typical Moyes, doesn't think we're in a relegation fight but will mention that magic 40 point mark any chance he gets.

He offers stability and consistency (of a better standard that we currently have) even if it's only a baby step forward. And he didn't deserve the stick he got from West Ham considering what he managed to do with them.

He's not the 'blow the doors off the barn' option we'd all like to see take the job, by quite some margin, but we know he has the ability to give us some firm footing away from relegation before we look to that option.

He's a yes from me. Not a very enthusiastic one, but a yes nonetheless.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Everton fans on the internet are glass half empty people.
I’ve come to the conclusion that Everton is footballing incest - we are only ever attractive to our own.

Of all the managers in all the world, we appoint David Moyes. Jesus wept. Was Howard Kendall not available?

To be fair, if he hadn't ever managed the club he wouldn't be in contention now.

When you consider that, it makes it all the more bonkers.

I think he might be actually. He did a good job with West Ham twice in similarish circumstances. In some ways it would probably make it an easier discussion for better or worse

If he hadn’t have ever managed us we’d be looking at his West Ham record and saying it a a pragmatic appointment to keep us safe and then move us up the table. It’s step 1 and 2 of any recovery long term for the club.
I would think so.

24-25: Survival and top 15
25-26: Try to improve on that. If showing promise, ride it out. If it looks the game has passed him, make a bolder move now that you have some footing.
