if we’re appointing Moyes, let’s not stop there. Let’s move everything back to 2005. Hand them iPhones in, replace them with Nokias.

No. But they are questioning ambition etc.

So what is the ambition??! If its not getting stable then it must be challenging the top 6.?

Top six In a year you said. Who has stated this because I have not seen one post referring to that all.

What I suspect the ambition is? Being content with anything that isn’t a relegation battle for a few years, constant talk of stability and anything beyond that lauded for more than it is. A repeat of the 2000s basically.

And yes, it’s cynical thinking, from what I’ve experienced in the past.

We always wondered what Moyes could do if we had money, well we are about to find out.

By all accounts he did a decent job at West Ham and some of their fans even still think it was a mistake sacking him. Utd and Sunderland 2 basket cases of clubs, Sunderland aren't now but they were at the time and I don't think any manager could have got a tune out of them tbh.

Real Sociedad was a massive mistake from both parties.

With us and with limited resources he had us consistently pushing the top 6 and challenging for Europe, a position I imagine the majority of blues would bite your hand off for now. We had solid foundations and an identity, and clearly he still has that good eye for a player he was renowned for with us shown by the signings he made at WHU. If he can establish that again we will be in a much better position to appoint a longer term coach following our move to BMD.

The best appointment for a club in our position is the one who is most suited to getting a tune out of the squad we have in the short term. Someone like Paulo Fonseca who has had a reasonable degree of success around Europe is probably preferable in the long term but our squad is nowhere near suited to playing his brand of football right now and obviously we aren't going to be bringing in a load of players this month for a completely new system halfway through the season whilst we are in a relegation scrap. Some won't like it but Moyes is probably the best appointment we can make atm with all that in mind

I'm a West Ham fan. If you want to know what Moyes could do with money, I give you Kalvin Philips. Maybe thats a bit harsh?! How about then, the half a billion quid he spent at West Ham and left behind the smallest and oldest squad in the premier league. "BUT HE WON YOU A TROPHY!!"

If there was a visual definitition of the phrase 'papering over the cracks, ' I'd offer up that image of Moyes holding the conference trophy. I really hate saying it because we love to joke about being 'champions of Europe' but I don't think there is a premier league side that couldn't have won that trophy that year considering the quality of the opposition in each round and fortunately we got our luck against Fiorentina in the final. Yes, I'm absolutely grateful for it , had a great night but thats it, its done. It doen't mean you stop progressing. It's so tedious to hear other fans, repeating what they hear in the media, and telling us how grateful we should be for a trophy. It doesn't take away from the fact we were on a massive downwards spiral. He very nearly took that side down the same season (think we secured safety in the penultimate week). We were dreadful last season, absolutly woeful, 74 goals conceded. First half of last season, until Christmas we had the most unbelievable luck in games - Iv'e never quite witnessed smash and grabs like what I saw when we beat Spurs and Arsenal away, somehow we were around 6th at Christmas then the luck finally turned and everyone smashed us for the rest of the season. Actually, even your lot got a taste of it when we nicked two late goals at your manor.

The fact that Sullivan went down the cheap route and baffled everyone by recruiting the 'Spanish Moyes' whose strange tactics haven't stopped the rot is neither here nor there and doesn't invalidate what I've said about Moyes. If he used to be a good , solid , defensive manager , well he seems to have lost his touch long ago. Not suprising really, he's yesterday's man. Him, Dyche, Alladyce all dinosaurs and you've had them all, You don't want him again.

I'm actually a bit fed up having to convince other clubs fans how bad we actually have been. I've already seen other clubs fans today ridiculing you lot for letting Dyche go - one comment on youtube "What do West Ham and Everton fans expect?!" . I guess there are so many fans out there that don't really watch other teams games.

How much did you buy Kalvin Philips for mate?

Would love a European trophy.

Wed all give our right leg for some mid table mediocrity right now. Moving into the new stadium.

Why can't we just get stable over the next two years?

Oh we all have short memories. Champions League finish. Constant 5th and 6th place finishes. FA Cup finals, semis, European campaigns.

Some exciting really exciting football to watch. Pienaar, Baines, Coleman, Arteta, Cahill, Osman, Fellaini. Top defenders like Jagielka, Lescott, Heitinga, Stones. Brought through Rooney.

Always a striker short. The irony is if he'd had Lukaku in any season we'd have had a few champions league campaigns under our belt and maybe even silverware.

The season he left for united we were 6th. He left us in a good place. He may have dithered with some transfers but that was because there wasn't a pot to piss in. They had to be right.

Only thing you could only ever criticise him for was never winning away at the big clubs.

I think he earned the right to manage us into BMD. Not a long term appointment maybe. But give him some dollar and see what he can do. No one can criticise what he did for the club in my opinion.

It was a 3 million loan fee. He started 3 games and came on as sub in the other 5 ..

Looked over your transfers earlier. Bloody hell. Haller £50m?! Some right stinkers in here. Some guy called Vlasic, £30m? Aguerd £35m. Scamacca nearly £40m.
