He did. But that single butterfly season showed up Moyes for the risk averse pragmatist he was. Martinez isn't half the manager Davey is, but that team in 2013/14 played football with a flair and ambition we hadn't seen since the 1980s. Moyes will "do a job". But that's about it.
Bobby and Duncan as they prepare to embark on a "tactical overhaul" in July 2014....

Well, I tried to tell you so (Yes, I did)
But I guess you didn't know
As the saddest story goes
Davey, now I got the flow
'Cause I knew it from the start
When you left you broke my heart
That you had to come again
And show us that you'd win

He lied to you
All those mentions of all them good times
He lied to you
Yes, you tried, yes you tried
He lied to you
Even though you knew he'd sell you out
He lied to you
And we cried how we cried

Return of the Moyes (it is!)
A terrific tune

My personal favourite would be:

Guess who just got back today
That wild-eyed Scot that had been away
Hasn't changed, had much to say
But man, I still think them eyes are crazy
They were askin' if you were around
How you was, where you could be found
Told them you were livin' at West Ham
Drivin' all the old men crazy

Moyes is back in town, Moyes is back in town...

I said, Moyes is back in town, Moyes is back in town
Moyes is back in town, Moyes is back in town
(Moyes is back!)
(Moyes is back!)

"Is there anyone in the crowd with any Scottish in them. Are there any of the girls who'd like a little more Scottish in them?" 🤣

I tried to tack that onto Morrison to begin with, got to "They were askin' if you were around , How you was, where you could be found" before Lizzy twigged.

Shambles me!

If it is moyes it's the worst decision in the clubs history. Worse than benitez. At least then you could argue an upside (ignoring the obvious disgust) that he had a winning background. Moyes has failed everywhere since he left us.

There is no possible positive here. At best he keeps us up with turgid football then hangs on and stinks out our new stadium whilst spewing negative bile along the way. But he has no more pedigree of keeping us up than any other random - he took Sunderland down and West ham a few points above us binned him off as clearly they felt anxiety in that regard.

Even Howard #3 had a ridiculous sentimentality about it.

Do one Moyes please

Totally disagree

I’ve made a list of pros and cons to weigh this up.

Pros:
Knows the club
has likely watched us a fair bit so will know the squad.
Does not eat worms

Cons:
Very boring
Face like a walnut
Nutsack hangs round his knees.
I couldn't care less if he looked like the love child of Iain Dowie and Lisa Riley just as long as he wins a game once in a while. Maybe a shot on target. Definitely not to have to listen to " on the grass" and take advice from the Man United legend Birtles again.

Can't help but think this will not end well. New owners, new stadium but we revert to an old manager. Moyes does not seem the fit i expected from Freidkin group - first signs of chaos. Can't see a moyes appointment working out but if he comes in i will be right behind him. Hopefully if it's Moyes some familiarity with the workings of the club and less noise about ownership/ debt will help settle him in.
It's a hell of a job keeping this club in the Premier league this season
