I’m willing to get behind Moyes… and hope for all concerned that he pulls it off.

He was our manager for 11 years for starters and he’s been desperate for the job again for a good few years now. He clearly has an affinity for the club and understands the fanbase/Goodison crowd. Dyche didn’t ‘get’ Everton and that was ultimately part of his downfall with his bizarre comments in recent weeks.

You're forgetting the bit where he tried to unsettle our two best players? Or the bit where he slagged us off? He's been desperate for a job yes. Most people like multi million pound pay offs. The traitorous little scrote has no affinity with us as amply proven

Moyes has achieved some relative success recently tho. You said the game has changed since he was last here but he’s been in the game so will have changed himself, unlike Dyche who didn’t look like at times he even had a plan A never mind a plan B.
Mate, ultimately I'm behind him from day 1, I am just a little bit underwhelmed.

I suppose we can't ask for better, currently.

Given the way he left us and tried to get our best players on the cheap, knowing we were skint, I rate this recruitment as only slightly less disrespectful of the fan base than that of the the fat waiter.

He’d just become manager of one of the biggest clubs in the world and let it get to his head a bit. Ultimately it all went tits up for him and I had a good laugh at him when it did. Doesn’t change the fact that I think he genuinely cares about Everton and our fortunes.

He's definitely gonna talk about what a tough job he's taken on. He'll lay the groundwork for absolving himself from any responsibility should things go south.

He’s taking on a tough job after Dyche left us a point above the relegation places, unlike Dyche the one thing he won’t do is blame everyone else but himself.

Over years we’ve become obsessed or persuaded that survival is an achievement. We’re all guilty , me as much as anyone , putting pictures of relegation battles on walls like they’re cup wins . Players in the dressing room acting like it’s a champions league final .

Seeing failure as success has become the Everton way , we’re like a fighter focused by maintaining their unbeaten record . I really hoped the new owners meant we could leave this behind and we’d see the new regime usher in an era of change but nope normal service resumed .
I don’t agree with this idea and never have. Nobody wants us to be where we are, nobody really thinks staying up is an achievement.

The reality is we’re not a good side and we haven’t been a particularly good side for a very very long time now. This whole ‘we should demand The best because we’re Everton’ shtick is a bit MAGA for me to be honest. I’m 40 and I’ve seen us win one trophy, what’s the point in me saying I’m only ever going to be happy when we’re at the very top of the game? What do I get out of that?

At the end of the day I chose to support the club and if they’re crap then they’re crap, what can I do? I haven’t been conditioned or brainwashed, I just have to take what I get because that’s what being a football fan is. We aren’t special because we won some trophies in the past, the reality is we’re an also ran and there’s nothing I can do to change it, so I either take the small victories when I can, stop supporting them altogether, or become a pent up ball of impotent rage because I can’t live vicariously through my football team. I choose option 1.
