The simple keep or sell

Status
Not open for further replies.

I`d keep, rest to be sold, loaned or shot.........

Godfrey
Keane
Digne
Allan
Doucoure
Gbamin (no one knows how he'll perform, no one will be buying him either)
James
Richarlison
DCL

Obviously that is only 9 that are good enough, thats why we have been Pony this season!

Only ones who I wouldn't listen to offers for are Digne, Keane, Godfrey, DCL, Richarlison, Allan, James and Doucoure. They are in/nearing their primes and would be hard to replace.

Everyone one else could be sold for me.

Essentially this with nuance. Nkounkou and Branthwaite aren't going anywhere permanently either.

With two years left, the calculation on Mina and Davies is driven by what we could get and what they will cost to extend. Sigurdsson, Coleman, Delph and Bernard are sell or run down the last year of the contract.

That doesn't leave much of a potential shop window - Pickford, Iwobi, Gomes, Gbamin and Holgate if you are so inclined on any of them. We get the Walcott and Tosun wages back, but coronavirus probably ate those in the form of lost gate receipts. Our ability to transform the squad likely depends on what we can move under adverse conditions, which is not a great place to be.

You'll have to be a bit more specific Mike.

Yet Sigurdsson, Gomes and Coleman stay...

Mina, Richarlison and James potentially go?

I know we've been starved of any success for about 30 years, but surely this is a wind up?

Well, I was joking about Coleman; it was a bit tongue in cheek about how we tend to find jobs for ex-players etc. I think he'll be gone after this season, to be honest.

Mina is a bit unpredictable at times. I like him, but just wish he could be a bit more settled and consistent.

Richarlison is just doing my head in. During the first half against Fulham he was beaten to a ball that was launched to him, he then slowly walked away with his head down and shoulders slumped. I want to see players with more an attitude of "I don't like the way things are going so I'm going to try and change it" not "I don't like the way things are going so I'm going to sulk". For the most part, Richarlison is hardworking and can have a positive influence on games; that's the side of him we need to see more of.

James is talented but he's no good to us if he plays one and a half games then is out for the next two or three. If we can get is niggles sorted out and he can put a run of games together, then he'll be a real asset. Mind you, there are rumours that he is not happy here and wants to leave in the summer anyway.

I feel Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Gomes are showing signs of improvement and would be decent squad members if they can keep it going; even more so if my 'Undecided' players start playing as well as we know they can.

KEEP
Pickford
Digne
Nkounkou
Godfrey
Branthwaite
Mina
Holgate
Allan
Doucoure
Onyango
Davies
James
Gordon
Richarlison
DCL
Kean

Sell the rest and bring in 2 keepers and 5 outfield players :)

Here we are in Feb 2021. Will you keep or sell the players in the first team squad in the coming summer? The recent matches have made quite an impact on my view.

Pickford - Sell if someone pay us what we paid. But have to keep him or Olsen even we are getting a new keeper in.
Holgate - Sell if we are getting a decent fee. He will either be the 4th choice cb or backup rb next season.
Keane - Keep.
Allan - Keep.
Richarlison- Keep.
Delph - Sell but doubt someone will come in for him unless it is a cheap loan.
Calvert-Lewin - Keep.
Sigurðsson - A close one. Keep as a backup till his contract runs out in a year.
King - Too early to say if he performs and works hard on the pitch till May maybe keep. A two year contract?
Digne - Keep.
Mina - Keep.
Doucouré - Keep.
Iwobi - Keep, on the borderline.
Nkounkou - Keep.
James - Keep. Activate the one year extension.
Bernard - Sell.
Gomes - Sell.
Godfrey - Keep.
Coleman - Sell.
Gbamin - Hopefully keep if things going right if not can only see him going out on loans.
Davies - Keep.
Virgínia - Keep as 3rd choice.
Olsen - Not sure at this point.
Terrifying the amount of gash we’ve got. What’s even more terrifying is the fees we paid for some of it and the wages we pay.
The Big Mosh fella would have saved himself a good few quid if he’d have got a boss manager in the first place.

As if anyone actually believes there’d be clubs in to pay actual money for that tosser Pickford...

The only way he’s leaving is when his contract is up (assuming we don’t do something ridiculous like we did with Besic and offer him an extension despite him being a waste of skin).

I’d genuinely be happy to see us just pay him up and send him on his way.

Joke of a keeper, horrible little weasel of a man.

There’s 2 sell categories really. A) Those who are blatantly not up to it and B) Those who you’d listen to any reasonable offers for due to big wages, inconsistency and a variety of other factors like FFP/not retaining them.

A:
Virginia
Kenny
Delph
Besic
Bernard
Tosun
Kean

B:
Pickford
Olsen
Holgate
Coleman
Gomes
Gylfi
Iwobi
King

Watch the positioning and movement off the ball of the City players tonight, together with their swift interchange of passes, then come back to your lists and reassess.

As I see it, we have a squad of players - apart from James - who would excel with better players around them (observe the improvement of Tom Davies since James’ arrival), but together as a team?

That is where we need to be.
