Here in the States you can text the section number of someone causing problems and security and cops will usually be showing up pretty quickly. This maintains anonymity. Anything like this in the UK?
In sporting events in the US you still hear plenty of BS, especially at American Football Games. However, the few times I've heard Racist rants, this in diverse South Florida, it usually doesn't end well for the ranter. In one case it went to the parking lot, and the ranter probably wished they'd been escorted out.
This has actually been in action at Goodison for some time now. You can text the seat the abuse is coming from to a quick text number and it will be investigated.
Everton’s offensive behaviour text reporting service has been upgraded for the 2013/14 season.
For the first time the service will be available to fans following Everton away from home.
For a number of years supporters at Goodison have been able to report offensive behaviour anonymously via text message.
This season a new text number has been introduced for use both home and away.
Fans can text HELP to 60030 and the message will be sent directly to Everton’s matchday safety team at Goodison.
For away matches, the messages will be delivered to the Blues’ security team who can then liaise directly with thew opposition’s stadium safety representatives and police officers who travel with away fans.
Everton’s head of security Dave Lewis said: “Following feedback from supporters concerned about the behaviour of a small minority of travelling fans who are being abusive and using smoke bombs, we have extended this service.
“The actions of these so-called fans could bring the Club’s name into disrepute and ultimately result in damaging sanctions being taken against us.
“I would urge anyone with any concerns over the behaviour of supporters to contact us straight away.”
To use the service, text the word HELP, followed by the seat, row and block number of the offender and a description of their behaviour to
60030
Messages are billed at the standard rate. Please note due to the stress placed on mobile networks at major events, sending a message doesn’t guarantee immediate receipt by our security team.
