The Steven Pienaar appreciation thread

Johnny Heitinga is turning out to be a very good player for us. We've picked up a very good utility man for 6 million, a player who is actually accomplished in three different positions. Not one of those pretend utility players who are really only good in one position.

As for Steven Pienaar, fantastic. Other than Saha he's been my player of the season so far, easily. Granted, he was out for two months, but no one actually did anything to stake a claim during that period.

He's an excellent footballer and our most hardworking player, a dream really. There was an Ajax flag in the ground today, probably for both of them. Some Dutch Blues, probably.

Wasn't me, but have to give credit where it's due. He's having a great start to his Everton career. He's perfectly build for the PL. Don't use him as a RB though if it isn't absolutely necessary. It's without doubt his weakest position.

I do like Heitinga in the centre of defence & think he could be very effective next to a more traditional "stopper" centre half.

Im not convinced Stevie P wont sign maybe hes playing silly buggers to get top wonga. His desire application and work rate would indicate that hes enjoying his football here, the club need to pony up hes defo worth 40k a week.

Not sure anywhere else bar the Prem would suit his all action style to be honest.

*P.S. we really do miss Lescott.

Especially the last paragraph:

Now the talk is of extending a contract that has 18 months to run though, with Pienaar’s bargaining power likely to be increased if he has a good World Cup, negotiations are likely to take time. “I’ve always said I am happy. I’d love to stay and the fans are great,” he said. ‘Some people say we won’t progress but we can’

Don't know how reliable the Daily Express is, but sounds exciting.
