The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

It's gonna end up a real underwhelming summer isn't it...

3/4 joe average players with potential or unheard of foreign gambles. No marque signings, no excitement... Another typical EFC summer.

Oh well can have a bit of fun watching which big names the likes of Norwich, West Ham, Southampton etc bring in.

Why wouldn't we go back in for fer? There totally different players.

I would like to see us sell felliani and get fer and try for afellay from barca they have basically said they want rid and he is a amazing player IMO could be cheap to although he has had some injury issues over the past season to so. I reckon we could get him for less then 3mil like is well worth the risk and is **** hot on FIFA and FM be fore you start .

Both CM's, would you really see us buying two of them for over £10 million with our limited budget? Both of them won't be cheap.

Even if Fellaini did leave I'd much rather go all out and buy a top class striker, something we've lacked consistently since Yakubu pre-injury. We lack firepower in serious amounts, either we utilise Jelavic next season properly or we use the money elsewhere.

None of us know yet, it's not even the end of June.

On the way to work blues I was thinking about this thread, and who I hoped we take a look at...

Just throwing it out there....

Scott Parker? (happy to receive abuse and/or an equivalent younger version of Scotty).

Peeps have been throwing around the fact that we were very open through the middle because of Ossie inability to 'stand' and slow an attack down. He's a bit like the kid at U14s level who constantly 'dives in' and gets beat over and over again.

We need steel, we need someone who will offer protection to the back 2 or 3 as inevitably our full backs will be playing as wingers under Bobby...

Scott Parker does the Lee Carsley role, with a bit extra of having enough ability to see a pass and play it quickly.

Surely wouldnt cost more than a few million would he?

i think you should give him more reasons to not want Scott Parker.

How about he is a faded player, would probably want a decent wedge to leave spurs and the spurs owner is a royal [Poor language removed] letting anyone go without getting every penny he can for him, im guessing hed hardball for around 6m for him believe it or not

I did throw in 'are there any younger equivalents out there'?

Agreed though, spending cash on a 32 year old is probably not great business sense
No re-sale value, probably come in as our top earner, doesnt do all that much Gibson does.
Would just seem a waste to me. Too many reasons not to do it.
On the younger equivilants, id quite like a footballer who excells with the ball at his feet in the middle. If Fellaini goes, as looks likely, a good technical player in the middle I think would suit us better. Failing that, a big athletic sod who can do the running for Gibson and put Barkley in behind the striker.

Ill go with the Levy is a tool statement, however Parker is far from faded.

If anything, he has got better with age - proven by his recent international recognition in comparison to the years previous!

Ive just googled defensive midfielders in the PL (cus im sad and bored at work) and there are some decent options:

Schneiderlin
McCarthy
Yacob
Diame
Sandro
Coquelin
Darren Fletcher

Any of these worth a punt?

Further, does anyone agree that we need a holding midfielder?
