What about the 15 goals in 34 apps for Levante. Seem to be forgetting them. Only looking for negatives.

He was outstanding for Levante, they got to 6th that year and into the Europa League. He could have scored more goals too but if he scored 18 he would have been automatically returned to Sevilla.

We ran at a £9m loss with those wages on the balance sheet. Of the five you've named Moyes alone earned £3m a year - it's not a stretch to beleive that Neville and Heitinga were both on £2m a year so yeah, call it £10m a year.

But Heitinga HASN'T left. And we've hired Martinez and his entourage. So we've only ACTUALLY reduced that £10m wage figure by the total value of Mucha's, Hitz's and maybe Neville's wages - how much do you reckon that is? £4m maybe?

In conclusion, we've cut our expenditure by £4m over the year. Last year we lost £9m, so this year we'll lose £5m if NOTHING ELSE changes.

So no, we don't have £10m to spend as a result of Moyes, Neville, Mucha and Hitz leaving. We've simply reduced our losses a bit. We have a £44m (approx) debt which is growing by between £5m and £9m a year. On those figures, we NEED to sell Felli in order to improve the squad - he earns between £3m and £4m a year AND we would pocket £23m-ish. So we would reduce our outgoings by the value of his wages AND generate a pot of money with which to pay for the purchase and wages of more players.

It's simple maths, nothing more.

Your simple maths fails to take account of the increased TV money.

i like kone but hes not great and is 30 by the end of the year. 6.5 million ?? we cant afford to pay that with his age and no sell on value . its buys like this that helped the club screw up in the 90s.

as for the anichebe nockers , i think he has got better each year and last year was probably his best. i still think theres a lot to come from our vic. not saying we dont need another striker , but i wouldnt write him and jelavic off just yet. i think martinez will get more out of them than moyes did.

and as for fellaini , id be gutted if we lost our manager captain club crest and club moto to then lose our best and the closest player to being real world class since neville southall. gutted i tell ya !

i know the money he could bring in could buy a few players (im sure there wages will be double fellaini's combined so it will up our wage structure) , but im certain none will be as good as him .
personnaly id fight tooth and nail to keep the squad pretty much as it is and just add 2 or 3 better than we have on the fringes.
mucha oviedo magaye naismith hitzleberger these are the players adding nothing to the team and just making up the numbers . then theres heitinga who just doesnt want to be here. replace these with youth or transfers that will rise in stock or do better .

So what you are saying then, is when he played for little Levante he had no pressure and did well, but when he played for a big club Sevilla his amazing record of 1 in 40 can be excused ? Or his 9 in 39 at international level? Or his stunning 11 goals last season? Or his history of serious injuries?

Plenty of negatives. If you look at his Wigan record last season, he scored in bursts. He scored 4 goals in two games, then 9 in his remaining 31. Not much to get excited about really.

6.5 million is abit much but he is good . There is some cheaper younger but unproven premier league strikers . I think the most economical way of dealing with strikers is that we should keep with our strikers until January then if jelavic starts firing again then great but if not then buy in January . We do lack a winger and another cm if Fellaini stays and 2 if he goes . Greg o keffe said that bill has given Martinez 10 million including wages as a standard budget . In that we could get Honda 5 million then hopefully moses on loan and a cheap goalkeeper . If heitinga goes then you can buy that Bruno for 4.5 million.

If the rm plays 4-3-3 Then the starters could be
Gibson Fellaini
Honda

With osman to come in for Gibson pienaar to come in for Fellaini and Barkley to come in for Honda . Our strikers would be jelavic vic Naismith

And he's still better than what we have.

He reminds a lot of Bakayoko.

1995–1998 Montpellier 76 (25)
1998–1999 Everton 23 (4)
1999–2003 Marseille 115 (34)

Overpriced, a poor investment, not what we need.

What about £6.5m for a 29 year-old striker who's scoring record over the last five years is WORSE than Jelavic? And buggers off to the ACON, leaving you short in January?

More than enough negatives for some. Avoid.

But hey, MartSlinger is convinced by his one annus mirabilis, who are we to argue?

We should avoid any player who ****s off to ACON. Can't afford to lose any more than we got due to squad depth.

Bill Kenwright will sanction our manager to spend money without previously selling one of our best players? No chance whatsoever. He's never done it before, so why would he now? The extra TV money will disappear into thin air. The major shareholders will pocket it and our operating costs will mysteriously rise with no explaination. Maybe he'll get Alcatraz before Fellaini is sold, but that'll be about it.

Personally I believe he will have money to spend even before Fellaini sale. But you are partly right about tv money imo. I believe big part of it goes to shorten our debts...to implicate that board members will pocket it is just nonsense imo...they will benefit no doubt but they are not stealing like. Just my humble opinion

Presuming Honda doesn't want to take a pay cut we'd have to pay him at least £60k a week to match what he's earning in Russia, due to our income tax structure being different to the Russian one. That's around £3m a year.

So if we have £10m to fund the purchase and wages of new players, then it's enough for Honda and ONE free transfer along the lines of Alcaraz, OR Honda and a loan with no fee and a max of £40k p/week wages.

£10m doesn't get you many players if you have to pay their wages from it too.
