He started the season as club captain but his form went to pot leading up the Bayern game and he hasn't been able to displace Koscielny since.

Kos is well better, does all the nitty gritty. If he wasn't partnered by Mertesacker he'd be thought of as one of the best in the league.

No vermalan has been dropped!!

The arse were conceding goals so changed it around and went with koscienly and mertasaker. At which point there defense tightened right up. Since then vermalan hasn't been able to get back in the first 11.

Koscienly is very underrated IMO, very good defender, don't rate mertasaker myself.
Can't see arsenal letting vermalan go but if they did would love him here, think he's brilliant!

Barcelona are supposed to fancy him but why would they want Arsenal's third choice centreback? They're also rumoured to be interested in Kompany.
