The Wire revisited (with spoilers)

Season 2 showed how small time string, marlo ,prop joe, Avon etc actually are.

Spiros and the Greek own the streets of baltimore. They have a mole in the fbi, when they shut down they were back at full tilt within a week, as a comparison look how the barksdale clan struggled after being cut off by New York.

It also showed how vital the docks were which showed that sobotka etc were actually more influential to the drug scene that the gangsters, the FBI wernt interested in a major drug case but didn't skip a beat when it came to the union.

It also shows the actual workings of the wire and the different ways the police can track criminals.

I think people downplay season 2 because it's so different from 1. They expect more Avon etc but instead it goes in a completely different direction

Is a great series and was very cleverly done I think. Get a real sense of the place.

Genuinely, season 2 was one of my favourites, the parallels between Liverpool and Baltimore at that time help.

I thought the descent into pure chaos from NIck and the corruption from his cousin Ziggy was brilliant.
