i know its fact, human beings learn more in the first year of life than in any other subsequent year.

i grew up in england, and both my parents speak english, strangley enough i speak english and not portugese.

what are the chances.

Kids are just alot dumber nowadays.

Its true. I dont know what it is. I believe our society has reached some kind of peak, and the generation Y is the last of them. Gen X Gen Y Gen Z, Zed is the last letter of the alphabet, so is that a coincidence?

The kids arent interested anymore. Im 28 and even though I didnt grow up in the 60's and 70's, it was a major influence in our lives. We knew about the things that happened from this era because the 80's were the tail end of it, we watched TV from the 70's, we were surrounded by people from this era. The products of this era were our biggest influences.

Now it seems the so called advancements in our culture and technology have removed the need for kids to learn their roots. They simply dont care even to know about the original version because 50 Cents remix is in their face now.

Bah! Makes me so mad!! LEARN DAMMIT!!

Rolf?? Havent seen the guy in Aus for 20 years! Is he still alive?? Dodged a missile there!!!

Ian 'Dicko' Dickson - if youve never heard of him, I pray to Allah we hadnt of either.

I disagree. It is kids these days who are so much smarter. They just need the hand that steers them in the right direction.

For example, my 3 year old son, at just over 1, could pick out a DVD he wanted to watch, open the PS2, take out the disc in there, put his in, close the door and put the tv on the right input. Now we have funneled that into useful stuff. He can count to 50, knows about 300 signs, and read and write the whole alphabet. He is still a sponge. He still finds out new features in Windows that I still have no idea about (you can always tell when he has been hitting the keyboard, all kinds of weird apps are open!)

The kids these days lack motivation. It always comes back to motivation. If a kid turns out bad, it is because parents/friends/family/teachers didn't do a good enough job (there are exceptions to that, Damien being one ;) )

i'd say education, if parents give a toss they are likely to pass that drive and willingness to better themselves on.

here goes....

kids nowadays just want to get on TV, and the sheer volume of [Poor language removed] trying to get onto and stay on tv is enormous, shearer, poll, bright, dixon, keown, the rather smug tit from the bbc midday business finance show - and thats just associated with football and only looking at the bbc.

the likes of jade goody makes life changing money and even wrangles her haggard old racist inbred mother onto the tv.

"The whole modern world's got a swishifying effect on kids today. And their MTVs and their diet sodas ain't gonna set 'em straight, neither. "

Thats true, in this society, but in days gone it would be the Tape, or the Record. A kid who can play on a computer isnt any smarter than any other generation, its just the fact that we have computers. No offence Dylan, seriously. Motivation, yes. Thats a big one. As things get quicker and more developed, kids are defianltley a product of their environment, and from an outsiders view, Britain seems to be a bleak, celebrity driven society, where the girls pull their hair back so tight it looks uncomfortable, and the guys all look spotty, always wear trackies and have shares in Brill Cream Co.

Just an Aussies 'laid back flamin galah' view!!... no offence to the rest of you whinging Poms!!!!!
