Bloody wish I was still 28. Or 29 for that matter.

If Arsenal pay £25+mill for a 29 yo striker from the Portuguese league, I will be available to be knocked down by a feather all summer. — Positively Arsenal (@Blackburngeorge) June 12, 2015

@Blackburngeorge he's 28 btw — Graham (@1886_ArsenalFC) June 12, 2015

@1886_ArsenalFC Hes a lot nearer 29 than he is 28. That's a fact. — Positively Arsenal (@Blackburngeorge) June 12, 2015

@Blackburngeorge he's 28. Now that is a fact — Graham (@1886_ArsenalFC) June 12, 2015

@1886_ArsenalFC What am I not surprised that fractions are beyond you? The day after his birthday, he is no longer 28. — Positively Arsenal (@Blackburngeorge) June 12, 2015

@Blackburngeorge he's 28 until he becomes 29. That's how it works — Graham (@1886_ArsenalFC) June 12, 2015

@1886_ArsenalFC Perhaps if you had paid more attention in Maths lessons? You might remember "round up or down to the nearest whole number" — Positively Arsenal (@Blackburngeorge) June 12, 2015

@Blackburngeorge he's 28. That's a fact. — Graham (@1886_ArsenalFC) June 12, 2015

@1886_ArsenalFC No, it is not £1.75 is not one pound. You don't even understand what a fact is now. — Positively Arsenal (@Blackburngeorge) June 12, 2015

@Blackburngeorge until he's 29 he's 28. — Graham (@1886_ArsenalFC) June 12, 2015

@1886_ArsenalFC No he is 28 and something. And if something is more than half, he is nearer 29. You are saying £1.75 is one pound.Stupid. — Positively Arsenal (@Blackburngeorge) June 12, 2015

reckon that was when Twitter peaked

I'm fine with that. £20mill is change nowadays.

Far more accommodating than the £45mill we spent on another player who won't get much better. Or the £24mill we spent on a weak Dutchman

So am I. I was responding to your comparison with the Giroud bid.

I didn’t want Klaasen or Sigurdsson, not even on the cheap. If only we could return them for a refund!!!

Back to Walcott, I really hope it works out, but personally I’d pay 30 for Giroud over 20 for Walcott all day long.

- Third-highest scorer
- Most chances created
- Joint second on assists
- Plays most of the game covering for Martina

He isn't the problem.

Agreed.

But it's the argument that age isn't a factor it's about the players quality

Sensible post mate, I believe every player has to be individually assessed, it’s like a car you could have two identical cars same age but with different mileage on the clock it might not mean the one with higher mileage is better it depends on how it’s been looked after. This could be said for footballers Giggs looked after himself and went on and on and was still quality

He certainly did. In more ways than one.

Aaron Lennon but without the ability to track a man defensively. Can't believe people think £20m on this player represents good value. The faults with that Arsenal team are there for all to see and he still can't get on the pitch.

tbf, arsenal's problems aren't attack. It's everything else. Also, wenger's an idiot, i bet the only time he played lacazette, sanchez and ozil all together is still that one game vs us when they hit 5!

Why are we spending our time seeking out the players the bigger teams no longer want?

Theo Walcott apparently has played just 50 minutes of premier league action so far this season and yet Sam/ Steve see him as the answer to Everton’s problems. He’s injury prone and coming to the end of his career, so whatever we pay for him, we will never recoup.

Why aren’t we concentrating on new talent – the RS bought Coutinho for 8.5million and sold on for 142 million this year. That’s where the big clubs are really good at making money. Isn’t this what Steve Walsh is getting paid to do?

I’m not knocking our youth academy, which I happen to think is probably one of the best in the country – in fact, I’d rather give them a go than some of the “talent” brought in by our management/ scouting team (Schneiderlin, Walcott) or rumoured to be considered (Deeney, Carroll).

You mean the coutinho who couldn't get into an 11th placed inter milan team? they got lucky with him, pure and simple. Inter milan were worse than the top 6 are now. And also, tbf, that fee was over twice as much as it should have been, had he not played for the RS with their massive media influence, his profile would never have been anywhere near that high. His stats show that he's not one of the absolute best in the world.
