I don’t think he’s played particularly poorly this season , he’s just been strangely ineffective. When he makes those runs into or around the box he has been easily contained and often dispossessed seemingly holding the ball for to long.
My own tentative reading of the situation is that when he arrives at the penalty area his options are too sparse which reinforces my belief that while our approach work has at times been exemplary we do not attack the box with sufficient numbers , speed or intent to profit from it. Whether Walcott is a contributor or victim of this particular flaw is currently open to personal interpretation.

Southampton played the perfect formation for Walcott to exploit but we went with Ademola(deservedly) one of those where he does suit certain games because of his pace. Hypothetical scenarios don't always translate onto the pitch though.

I dont enjoy having a pop at our own players, but considering the length of time he has been playing top flight football and the players he has trained and played with in the past, I find that his lack of awareness and anticipation shocking at times.

He just hasn’t taken his chances in front of goal at all. He should be our highest scorer with the amount of easy chances he has had.
I honestly don’t know what else to say.

If he'd taken half of them he'd have 5 goals this season at least. He should be aiming for 15 goals, but maybe competition from Lookman will help. I think we need another to compete in that 'wide' or up front position, so that it's Lookman, Walcott, Bernard, Richarlison going for the wide places and new striker + DCL for the front centre forward.

THen Walcott will have to play better to keep his place. At the moment there are no goals coming from either side so can't really compare his performances

he does nothing. Puts on his shin pads and his shorts and that's his work done (apart from that insipid look on his face that makes you think that he's gonna bust out crying). Can't think of an Everton player that I've ever hated more.
