Brands wont keep him past next summer...declining in value + we can still get our money back on him.

Cant see him in the team 2nd half of the season.
Totally agree! We need to sell him because he’s 31 next year. Then I would go with an ultra fluid and super fast interchanging formations such as one from the many many formations I have shown below.

OPTION 1

Bernard - Gylfi - Richarlison

Tosun

OPTION 2

Lookman - Richarlison - Bernard

Tosun

OPTION 3

Richarlison - Bernard - Lookman

Tosun

OPTION 4

Tosun - Lookman - Lozano (I know he haven’t got him YET but Brandalf likes him so there)

Niasse

OPTION 5

Gylfi - Bernard - Richarlison

Tosun

OPTION 6

Gylfi - Tosun - Lookman

Richarlison

It’s a no brainier IMHO.

I actually think he did alright yesterday. As someone has already pointed out, he could have had 3 clear chances on goal had others not been so selfish/slow to react. He tracked back well and worked hard for the team.

The pace of any combo of him, Bernard, Richarlison and hopefully Lookman if he stops sulking is going to be our biggest threat this year. Find a CM combo to feed them consistently and they, along with Cenk, will rattle in a good number of goals this year.

Just hope our new defenders can defend, now...

So he doesn't play second half of the season yet we get our money back ? Sure.
I’ll vault you early. Barring injury, he’ll start plenty of games after December. Not a good performance yesterday but he gets a bye due to lack of fitness. Quality player who massively improved us last season. I’m very excited by the attacking options we have now, this fella included. Richarlison, Walcott, hopefully bernard. Siggy needs to up his game. Maybe a few cameos from want away boy wonder.
He’ll get double figures this season. Crazy how much our players are being criticised on here after one of our best performances in the last 18 months.

It was our first game under Silva, we’re going to improve. We’ve got another 4 new players to bring in, just enjoy it and show a bit more patience!
I suspect that he'll start plenty of games before December as well. Yesterday wasn't his best, but some of the fickleness from our fans is genuinely laughable.

His lack of pre-season games was evident as he lacked match-fitness and sharpness; with regards to last season, under Sam many of our players were awful.

When he first arrived, you could see the talent that he had through his movement, passing and overall play - his Arsenal training shone in our dross movement.

Now we've got more options he will have to up his game to get game time, so hopefully he will be a fantastic attacking option for us either starting or on the bench.

The calls for him to be sold etc. are ridiculous, as we need strength in depth and I doubt we'd get someone of his ability and experience for anywhere near £20m.
My god we have got some whoppers supporting us. He had a bad game, so what? It happens.

1-- It will be easy to get £20mil for him. Look at the rubbish going for that amount. Southampton or Palace or similar would take him -- huge wages though.

2-- Hes got no rapport with Coleman

3-- Rapid players who are frequently playing at a young age almost always drop down levels as they hit 30-31. He will be 30 next season.

4-- He has no strength whatsoever, he may track back but has minimal effect.

5-- Compare him to Richarlison. Imagine having 2 Richarlisons (one on each wing). The wages saved (if possible)would cover a new player of that level. Massive gulf in quality and long term benefit.

6-- It amazes me that so many posters think short-term. That was the exact issue last season and before, spending money on older players like Williams + Sigurdsson + Bolasie etc. Good for 2-3 years then no value in them.

If he scores 10 goals this season then it will add to his transfer fee and chance of us selling him. If brandalf has a brain (which he clearly does) then he will be looking at players internally and externally to take over that right forward position.

Have you seen the players being sold for 20m these days? If we sold him we would get that back easily I think

Exactly, but in Allardyce's stupid short term thinking the bloke is on about £100-120k a week

Wasn’t at his best yesterday, but I’ve admitted I think it was more to do with lack of fitness. We have other areas of the team to worry then wide areas (I think this is the strongest area of our team) namely central midfield.

He could easily have had four goals yesterday.

Three times there were simple passes on to put him in one-on-ones, and his team-mates didn't find him.

He also fluffed the chance when it fell to him.

I like theblueroom as an easy listen, but bloody hell, they were chatting tosh last night saying he didn't work hard as well - at times he was playing as a second right-back - made some really good challenges in the first half and always caused Wolves trouble off the ball.

Yes, could have been sharper but he played one pre-season game. It'll come.

No rapport with Coleman? He has played about ten games with him!

It's got nothing to do with thinking short term, he is at the club, that's all that matters and he is a useful player, one of our better ones. I don't give a toss about value, we have had decades of worrying about that.

You worry way to much about age.

Did you like that we signed u25 year olds this window or would you prefer we went for 29 year olds?

Because clearly if the strategy is for u25s then its ridiculous to hold onto 2 players who can easily be upgraded with additions at least 5 years younger.

There's some irony in complaining that people are too short-termist while at the same time making judgments based on essentially one game.

As many have said, it's one game and he was rusty. If Bernard or Ricarlison eventually replace him, he'll come off the bench and that's fine. Silva's biggest issue with Watford's acquisition policy was the lack of depth behind Ricarlison and his wingers. He's got that here, everyone has a bad game, the competition will push him to do better.

How ironic to assume posters are basing their views on one game.

Rather blinkered in fact.
