2018/19 Theo Walcott

If true, it sounds like Theo was expecting for Everton to be a laid back, retirement environment. Was probably sold the idea by Wayne. And Jags. And Baines.

This s****y summer is making me go all DaveK. Get them all out. Burn it down and start over Marcel and Marco. They deserve nothing.

As it stands, they both have big questions to answer as well.

I am not blaming for this mess. I am not implying that either have had nearly enough time to solve the problems.

I am saying that I think both - but especially Brands - need to start to show they can step up and be the guys to take us forward. I'm sure it will happen.

Silva needs to have decided what players he wants to keep - I'm sure he now has.

Brands needs to be, I believe, a bit more prominent. This is not in regards specifically to transfers and, actually, it's as much a communications issue if anything, but imo he should be following the Monchi model of regular updates on the work the club is doing across all areas. A five-minute weekly interview on the club website could suffice.

Show the fans that they are working hard on getting it right. Show the fans there is a system in place, that they (he) is in control.

For me the first order of business should have been showing jagielka and baines the door. Well past their sell by dates, happy to milk the club dry and sum up the bottler mentality that has riddled the club for years

Nope. Wrong attitude to have.

I highly doubt it's true, but if this is the case then the best course of action is to sit down with said player, ensure the authority is in place, but come to a mature, amicable resolution.

Not throw the toys out of the pram, which only detracts from the team.

I disagree. You can’t make allowances for certain players just because of who they are.

If he’s said he needs an extended break due to injury then it makes sense for them to ask him to report back to get it checked out. Not sure what they’ve done wrong here? Albeit this all seems to be based on unconfirmed reports.

The players are under contract.

Why would you let your only left-back go without a replacement in already, and leave us needing two lbs?

Williams. Keane. Schneiderlin. Martina. Mirallas. Bolasie.

All of those need to go before Jagielka and Baines are punted (though this needs to be their final seasons at the club).

Do you think Fergie, Jose and Pep would follow your recommendations? Or do you think they'd ensure, especially in the first months of their reigns, that the players know who is boss by making it crystal clear it's their way or the highway?

But look what happened under Koeman? He bombed players out and it left us with a 38-man squad full of tosh.

The 'rumour' is that he picked up a knock in Austria. Didn't feature in that game against the farmers because of that. Then he supposedly asked for a break when he got back...

Which makes absolutely no sense.

Pretty sure Fergie fell out with the vast majority of his players at one point or another, including Rooney, Ronaldo, G.Neville, Cantona, Keane.

Only Beckham was actually sold following an argument, and even that was quite a while after the case. And, they had Ronaldo coming in as a replacement, which is why Fergie cashed in on a player who was at that time 27/28.

He was one of the best man managers - probably the best man manager - and knew how to strike the balance.

Jose uses players as much as players try to use a manager.

Pep has done it with Toure. He's done it with Aguero.

I think there's a balance to be struck between discipline and knowing that a player is good for the team. You have to show them who is in charge, but I think Koeman (and to an extent Martinez with the likes of Distin, Eto'o etc) have shown that bombing players out isn't the right way to go either.

Supposedly He said he had a foot injury so wanted another week off. Silva & brands apparently very very strict so called him in for tests and nothing showed up.
Rumours there are a few more not happy that the holiday camp has ended.

..i’ve been reading this rumour for a few days now and it doesn’t make sense.

If a professional footballer has an injury he would expect to be at his club for evaluation and treatment, he wouldn’t expect to sit at home for a week. It just doesn’t make sense.

Calling bullshit on the Theo rumours, sounds like someone wanting Brands/Silva to fail and Theo doesn't sound the type of lad to cause a rumble
