southampton aren't our rival though, just because they've won a couple doesn't mean they'll be competing us for european places, just because they beat us doesn't mean that either
Based on last year results they are...they finished above us...I get it that probably they needed to balance the books in relation to wages so that we are compliant with ffp yet letting Bernard go to italy would have make much more sense to me. You dont reinfore a potential team you are in direct competition with on one side and on the other side you have a player in walcott that will have an impact in the Premier league.

The guy has had barely any impact in 3 years, let's see if we're saying this again in a few months.

They finished above us last season, beat us convincingly 2 weeks ago, and are above us now. It’s proper kopite behaviour to pretend we’re on a different level to them.

Walcott is an ultimately frustrating player but he causes team problems and gives a dimension that we don’t really have. I’d have to agree that still paying half his wages and seemingly getting no fee for him doesn’t seem like great business to me.

Think it's a bit big-headed of our fans to think Saints aren't our challengers. They've just romped us last week and exposed the state of our squad without a few players, while tonight showing that they can easily push teams like Newcastle aside even without their only regular goalscorer, Ings. They finished above us last season and they know how to win away from home too. I fully expect us to finish above them with this squad, but if we get a few injuries to key players they could easily do us again this season.

He's really quite good at getting behind defenders. That's always dangerous, just normally when he gets to the important stuff, never delivers.

He just doesn't have the end product. That said, I still maintain that Hasenhuttl is an excellent manager, and they'll always be difficult to beat when they get their tactics right. There will be the odd mad result, but completely out-tactic'd Ancelotti recently.

As for Walcott, he'll be falling apart in the box before long.

I disagree Barney in one respect only. He does have an end-result but irritatingly it only happens in a blue moon
but often enough to fool you into thinking that he could improve and become consistent.

The performance against Utd at Goodison come to mind and there were one or two times he did well.

AFC did well in unloading him for loadsa money. It was a masterful move on their part and they finished it up by
onloading Iwobi who does not even flatter to deceive.

Personally I’ll stick my neck out and say that the £15m we paid for Walcott was worth it.
He’s popped up a few times with Valuable goals for us, and in the season under Allardyce somehow managed to rejuvenate a midfield which was managed by Allardyce.

Ultimately it hasn’t been a roaring success, in fact it’s regularly been so frustrating to even imagine, but when you consider we paid double for Iwobi, treble for Sigurdsson and £9m more for Klaassen, when he does leave he’ll go with my best wishes.

Walcott had given up tbh, his two games this season he didn't even try, i think that helped make up ancelotti's mind.

I don't think that's the case. Personal feel it's purely down to wages and we had to get rid of one of them

He's still a million times better than Iwobi as he can actually control a ball
