There are some very fringe use cases for NFTs, tickets being one of them. The majority is just people buying and selling jpegs that, like you said, you can just download for yourself.

Just like crypto kitties in 2017, NFTs contribute massively to congestion/huge fees on the ETH network.

It will collapse just like crypto kitties did back in 2017.
