Things you don't give a flying [Poor language removed] about

Yeah but it's the whole 'we're victims, give us equal rights' that does my head in. They have equal rights, and the majority of people couldn't give a **** about them being gay. I've been to gay clubs before and didn't bat an eyelid. It really doesn't bother me. But the protests and stuff do.

I actually agree about some of the protests, the one about blood donating in particular, but I'm mostly curious why they protest you?

Does your shop sell homophobic sat navs or something? "Turn left now, you faggot." that sort of thing?

No but I see it and I'm like, shut the hell up. I have a lesbian friend and her girlfriend is a right politically obsessed
pro feminist bellend and they're always going to protests and gay pride events etc etc. I think pride looks fun if you were that way inclined, but it's not just about being proud to be gay, its about 'sticking two fingers up to the wrongs of society because we are oppressed and hard done by'. No your not, the only ones that care are you. I just think it's making an issue out of something that doesn't need to be an issue. They make an issue, about it being an issue, which creates an issue. If you see what I mean. Everyone just needs to lighten up. Me included like.

Unfortunately, there are too many people around who aren't as open minded as you. They still have to put up with a lot of shoite from fcukwits.

I don't think you can say gay people aren't oppressed without actually being gay yourself.

How would you know if they were oppressed?

Okay maybe NIK is a bad example. He probably gets called a lot of derogatory gay names. The bender.

I don't think gay people are oppressed to be honest. I mean, homophobia does still exist and it's easier to be straight certainly simply because the majority are so society obviously is geared towards them, which is fine.

But, that's about people not the government, the last genuinely unfair homosexual laws were repealed more than a decade ago.

Having said that there are a lot of people who dislike that and who protest and write and get very upset that gays have equal rights and who want that changed and I can see the argument that it's not good if the only people talking about gays are the BNP (who want it to be illegal to publicly reveal you're gay) and Orson Scott Card (who wants gays locked away in camps). If there's nobody from our side saying anything, than that's the only voice on the agenda.

Mind, a lot of the things gays are protesting nowadays are idiotic. I think the NHS is 100% right to stop homosexuals giving blood for instance, as we're 14 times more likely to have aids, which is tragic but unfortunately true. I gave blood right up until I became sexually active and then I couldn't do so any more and I think that's a perfectly sensible policy which probably saves lives and people shouldn't try and change it.

They are not oppressed, or not nearly as much as a lot make out. I can't stand homophobia, but I also can't stand people who over play the equal rights thing. They've got equal rights. When I was stuck for a job I actually started putting I was gay on application forms to try and manipulate the equal rights rule. One I even put that I was a gay Asian.

What kind of jobs have you been applying for where they ask you if you're gay?

I am trying very hard not to make a prostitute joke here, Nik. I hope you appreciate my restraint.

EVERY job application form asks you your sexual orientation. Or at least ones that I've come across. Any disabilities, sexual orientation and race. They need to fill a quota quite literally.

Much appreciated x

Really? I'm not doubting you like but I must have applied for hundreds of jobs and I've honestly never noticed that.

Yup literally every one I've applied for, from memory. Maybve a few exceptions but more often than not. It's so irrelevent isn't it. Shouldn't matter, it's whoever is best qualified for the job! It's the old political correctness thing again. Unfortunatly nowadays a minority member of the public MIGHT be more likely to get a job over an IC1- white british male due to the fact that a company needs to fulfill a quota. My argument is not against these minorities at all, but against the system who deems it nessessary to take into account the race and sexual orientation of a person. It really, really really should not matter.
